Close to purchasing a new build and wanted some feed back. I've whittled it down to these components, which I think encompass power, while not being too expensive. They also offer some future proofing (some pieces). Have at it.
CPU
i5-2500k
Thoughts: Cheap, performs very well, overclocking enabled (If I want to).
MoBo
ASRock Z68 Professional Gen3
Thoughts: It's got some elements of future proofing there with PCIe 3.0, USB 3.0, ivy-bridge compatibility. Good ratings (21 ratings for 5-egg overall).
GPU
EVGA GTX 570 HD, 1,280mb version
Thoughts: 28 review, 5-egg overall rating. Looks to handle pretty much anything. I will probably look to SLi these later on in life. I also saw a 2.5gb version, but I read that you only really needed that much ram if you were running a game like Metro2033 across 3 screens.
RAM
Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb, CAS 8, 1.5v, @1600 ----- Previously was a Mushkin Redline, but got some advice that 1.65 volts has the potential to damage the CPU.
Thoughts: Cheap, good performance, 73 reviews for a 5-egg overall rating.
SSD
Mushkin Enhanced Chronos Deluxe 120gb
Thoughts: Originally wanted a 240gb, but I can just add another SSD later if I need speed, otherwise a 1TB drive should easily handle documents, songs, etc. The Chronos test pretty well too and seems to be stable.
PSU
Corsair Professional Series HX1050, Silver certified
Thoughts: I eventually will probably SLi the 570 and figure a 1050w PSU will easily allow that down the road. Also, silver certified, which is nice. Also modular.
Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
