Hi all,

I want to build a computer primarily for Aion and rendering videos in Adobe After Effect (which is very intense!). There's going to be a new patch coming out in Aion sometime in the near future which looks amazing, so of course I want to be prepared for that as well. The three main components I'm looking at are listed below.

Budget: Around $1200

CPU: Intel i7 920 2.67ghz
GFX: Radeon 5850 (What are differences between Saphire vs XFX in terms of quality?)
RAM: G-skill 6GB DDR3

PSU: 600W should be enough?
MOBO: Compatible with i7 and DDR3
HDD: 640GB 7200RPM
Monitor: Probably 22" LCD monitor
Case: Do I need a Mid-size or Full Size for those components?
Keyboard: Logitech G15
DVD RW
2.1 Speakers

I know it sounds vague right now but for now I just want to focus on those 3 core components. So what do you guys think? Will this run Aion without lag on highest setting even during a fortress siege? (With about 300 players on the screen) Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the reply.

Could you elaborate on why i7 would be a bad idea? Isn't it better than i5?

And also, I will be building this from scratch so I will be buying all parts of the computer. Thanks in advance!

Well, I said it in my post. I'll say it again. i7 920 + X58 + 6GB DDR3 will be over your original $1200 budget.

You still cheaped out on the PSU which is the most important part of a pc, next to a clean power source. Like I said, a quality high-end gaming build with i7 920 is over $1200 US. 860 is cheaper, but it's not best for MMORPGs which need a fast dual core, semi-modern GPU and a VERY low-ping connection.

You can still do better with $1300 if you go with AM3 X3/X4, 790X, same GPU, QUALITY PSU, and maybe a small SSD. You'd be waiting for the other guys to load up their map/world in the game.
