I've recently seen a seller near me that is selling the Alienware 15 r2 for 1,000 but managed to get him down to 800 but was wondering if I would be better off gaming on a desktop for around 650 or 700 and if so can you link me to any builds and tell me what is the expected fps I will be getting on games like ARK:SE vs what I would be getting on the Alienware.

If you need the portability get the laptop. If you don't then build your own. Better performance for the same cost.
