-Any compatibility issues or anything?

-I hear the 7950 is big and has a hard time fitting in mid towers? Does my tower size matter? Can I just buy a really big tower?

-Should I wait until christmas week, after, or buy now?

-And lastly, offtopic, how do I use a windows 7 Ultimate upgrade disc as a full clean installation on a new build?

I don't plan to go higher, cheaper the better.

you need to get a better power supply in 550-600w range
7950 is big but it will fit no problem
its up to you if you want to pull the trigger now or after xmas
you cant to a clean installation with upgrade disk..as the name implies its a disk to upgrade windows versions from lets say home premium to ultimate
 
500W should be enough. Most people don't know how much a system actually pulls down at full load. I would swap in a GTX 660ti. (if I knew the budget, I'd give you better advice lol)

Clean install of Windows on a new build goes like this:
1. Build Computer
2. Plug in computer
3. Turn on Computer
4. Put in CD

If you want the best build responses, give us a budget to work with.
 
The 7950 rocks the 660ti. If i was you i would get the 7870 because it OC's like a boss, and comes stupid close to a 660ti or 660ti. Plus its cheaper, the 3gb frame buffer isnt going to do anything unless you are playing at a higher redo than 1080p, we are talkin about 3 monitors plus. Get the 7870 Hawk which is a much better card with better cooling, better internals better everything and dump that other 50 bucks into a good PSU like a XFX,EVGA,Corsair or sea sonic.
 
Looks good. Just verify your ram will fit under or interfere with the heat sink. I normally go for low profile ram to avoid those issues.

the 7950 uses 200 watts and the rest of your system may go to 150 watts

a 500 watt PSU will handle 350 watts . . . 😛
 
A friend of mine used an upgrade disc as a fresh install on my laptop after he nuked it. He builds computers and such, and he says that its a simple registry change - you can use the windows 7 upgrade disc as a full installation. I was just making sure if anyone else had an opinion on it, because I'm not sure the exact steps.
 
so im guessing its good? 😵? Will buying a big tower make a difference at all? I don't care about space much, but is a mid tower required for this build? wish i could find a really nice looking tower that wasnt so freaking expensive 🙁
 
go for it.

personally i am not a fan of LG dvd burners as i have seen some folks get bad burns with inexpensive disks but hey . .not going to affect the performance.
