I have build my first PC a couple of months ago, my mother board is ASUS Z97M-PLUS. I'm dual booting windows 10 and ubuntu 14.04 from a sandisk 240GB SSD and I have another 2TB drive for data.
A month ago after I restarted my computer, it was stuck at the asus splash screen with the bios message (press F2 or del for bios setup...) and the keyboard wasn't responding at all. I tried disconnecting all usb devices, I checked the ram, I removed the CMOS, I reset the MOBO, nothing helped. Finally, when I disconnected my system SSD, the PC managed to go past the splash screen with the keyboard working. My solution was to; disconnect SSD, connect ubuntu usb boot drive, enter bios settings, change boot order (boot first from usb), reconnect SSD, boot to flash drive, run boot-repair.
After that the PC booted fine to the boot menu and all was back to normal. The problem is, it happened again yesterday. Of course knowing the procedure, it didn't take long to fix it, but still I don't want to have to do it every month..
So basically I think there might be something wrong with my boot configuration, but since I didn't do it manually and I'm not really sure what could be wrong with it, I require your help
What can I do in order to troubleshoot this problem?
