So my original budget was about $2000, but have realized that for about $1600 I can still build a pretty solid PC. I just want to know from people with more experience what they think about it. I am advanced with computers in the sense of using the BIOS and windows and such, but I am a gamer and have decided to build my own.

Here is my build:

You should have gone for a much beefier card with that budget.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/CkwrQ7

I deleted the CPU cooler (not needed, since you won't OC and your case will be like a fridge with so many fans), replaced the R9 280 for an R9 390, and replaced the PSU for an EVGA 600W one. Looks good to go, but you may want to choose some less expensive components (like a cheaper case, fewer extra fans, etc.) and go for a much better CPU like the i5 4690K.

I certainly wouldn't spend over $180 on fan crap

Unless you're doing other things like heavy photoshop, the 16gb of ram may be overkill. Also the number of fans may be overkill as well but each person has their preferences. I wouldn't go anything less than a 4690k or adjust the build further for possibly even an i7 for a $1600 build. Obviously it's a bit higher than most since it includes keyboard, windows, a monitor etc. The 970 is a bit stronger of a card than the r9 380.

Just to update everybody I changed my CPU to a 4690 (not interested in overclocking), took out my CPU cooler, deleted my accidentally added second fan controller and changed my GPU to a GTX 970. Because of the graphics card, I now have a less than 400W estimation, so I think my PSU is fine. What else could you help with, If anything. I would be willing to go around $1850 if I see the improvement that drastic. Thanks so far.

Not that I'm trying very hard, but I can't sleep, so I added a better PSU. It's can withstand 750 watts, so that gives me the potential to easily add more GPU. This is important to me as my brother told me that if a 4k monitor (a decent one, fuck BenQ) ever drops below $350 he will pay $100 of it as long as I let him play on it occasionally, so yeah. Just a little personal things, I don't know if they might help or not. :pt1cable:

If you're not interested in overclocking you could save quite a bit dropping the 4690 to a 4590 and dropping that expensive z97 mobo for an h97 unless you're planning to sli in the future or want your options open for an overclocking k series like an i7 later on. The 4690 is poor value considering it's only $15 less than a k series (only important for overclocking), yet it's $25 more expensive than the 4590 for 200mhz faster turbo speeds and 100mhz faster base speed. You'd be better off getting an aftermarket cooler for that money than wasting it on the locked 4690.

While locked cpu's really don't 'need' an aftermarket cooler they're usually quieter and sometimes the stock coolers struggle when the cpu's under heavy load for extended periods of time such as gaming. Something like a scythe kotetsu, cryorig h7 or be quiet pure rock would all be suitable. As a matter of fact the pure rock is just under $25 at newegg with free shipping.

Well I guess I should have waited until you responded to change everything, but I did quite a large makeover. I just got a call saying that the golf course which I work at is laying people off, and that I'm one of them. So now I will only be working 50hours instead of 70 a week. That destroys my budget. Here is my lowered cost build, and I'd like to keep it around the $1,000. As you see It's now suited for 1080p instead of 1440. Not really a big deal. I am just worried about the cooling with only the two fans, but the case comes with another 140 and two 120's, so I guess I should be good. What do you think about the $600 cut?

Once again another update. Just in case later after I save up some more money I want to add a second 280 and upgrade my monitor to 1440, I changed my PSU. Now I have two questions. Any suggestions, and would 2 280 run a 4k monitor. By the way. The type of games I will be playing are the elder scrolls and fallout series, Classic N64 games like the ocarina of time and majoras mask, mostly open world rpgs. Not really a shooter fan, unless It's Wolfenstein.

This is personally what I'd run! That mouse and keyboard you're looking at aren't great do you want suggestions on different ones?:)

The budget you have is quite large, and you are spending it on things that are not needed and/or don't help performance much. For example: all the mobos you listed are utter overkills if you won't overclock, the case fans are an exageration, and the GPU is too weak for that kind of budget. Also, stock Intel cooling is perfectly competent at stock speeds, even for gaming.

Here is what I recommend: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dYdCWZ

As you can see, I went for the 4590, deleted the unnecessary CPU cooler, changed the R9 280 for a 390 (extreme upgrade), and left the whole build under your previous budget.

You may want to rethink the case, as that one seems very adept at blocking drive bays with cards.
