Upgrading my PC after many years - not purchasing quite yet, but wanted opinions on this build I'm considering; compatibility issues etc.

I would recommend going with a 5600x vs the 5600g because you are using dedicated graphics. I would try to avoid the EVGA bronze units if at all possible and go with a GQ at minimum.

They are simply subpar if you can afford it try to go with a EVGA gold unit like the GQ

Fairly low-quality Andyson-made platform, full of cheap parts, third-tier capacitors, a downright awful warranty by today's standards. There are worse PSUs, of course, but this came during an era after EVGA went very cheap with their budget PSUs because of tariffs and quality suffered greatly.

What are the parts of your current pc?

I think your proposed parts are compatible.
But, I have some thoughts:

What is the purpose of this pc?
I might imagine that it is for gaming.
For gaming, do you favor fast action games?
or
Do you play at higher resolutions (than 1080P)?
If so, favor a strong graphics card.
Do you play multiplayer with many participants?
A cpu with many processing threads is good.
Are your games more cpu centric like sims, mmo and strategy?
If so, you want fast single thread performance.

Run the cpu-Z bench on your current pc and look at the single thread rating.

These questions are relevant to the cpu/gpu capability balance.

The suggestion above of a I3-12400F is a good one.

I would opt to spend some $25 more for the non F version which includes integrated graphics.

Looking at the case, I think it does not have as good cooling as you might want,
2 x 120mm front intake fans and 1 120mm exhaust.

Ryzen cpu performance is connected to ram speeds. 3600 is considered the sweet spot. For Intel 3200 speed is fine.

On the psu....
500w is ok for a 6600XT.

But, to allow for a future graphics upgrade, you should go stronger.
The psu will only use the power demanded of it, regardless of the max capability.
650w or 750w will not cost that much more.

PSU quality is important.
One way to tell is to look at the warranty.
The unit you picked has only a 3 year warranty.
I think 7 to 10 years would be better.
Seasonic focus or Corsair rm are good places to start.

Yeah it is for a gaming PC, and I play practically all types of games.

Main changes include MOBO, DDR4-3600 RAM for Ryzen CPU, and 650W PSU w/ 10yr warranty

However I am a bit stuck on the case, not sure what a decent budget option w/ sufficient cooling would be. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. And I also wonder what limitations come with the MSI B450M PRO-VDH MAX MOBO, as I notice it is much cheaper than some alternatives.

Couldn't resist the 3733mhz ram with cas17,
did go down to the 5600 (non x), see no point in the 5600X for more money, but that is up to you (as every choice of course),
added the 750watt TXM for some leeway in power,
that case is imo fine added the third fan to put in that back so that both original fans could be used in the front for some decent airflow.
