Build, trouble connecting to internet

I've set everything up and am ready to update drivers. I have an Asrock P67 Extreme4 mother board and am using Verizon DSL through a modem, which is then connected to a router. I have the ethernet cord plugged into the LAN port on the mother board but the system (W7 ultimate 64bit) doesn't recognize it. What do I do?

Ethernet drivers are often included on a CD that came with the mobo. God knows why Windows doesn't have the drivers built in for ethernet controllers, there are only a handful of different models.
