Some months ago I upgraded my graphic card from a Nvidia GT220 1GB to Nvidia GTX1060 OC 6GB (a huge leap, I know). I was all happy because I was getting crazy and stable fps in my favorite games (Counter strike GO and Overwatch) but this weekend I purchased destiny 2 and I noticed fps drop in combat from 60 to 40s (vsync ON, 60fps cap) and 200 to 70s (vsync off). I'm also playing high settings and tweaking some stuff to medium with 1366x768 resolution (HD ready monitor @ 60HZ)

Taking a look to this review I know that my graphic card can do way better so I'm wondering if I would see noticeable benefits if I upgrade my build.

My main components:

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 OC 6GB
CPU: First gen Intel core i7-860 @ 2.8 Ghz (OCed to 3.49Ghz)
MB: ASUS P7P55 LX
RAM: 2x2GB Kingston valueram DDR3 1333 + 2x4GB Kingston valueram DDR3 1333 CL9 (OCed to CL8)
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB

My potential upgrade:

GPU: Keep the same
CPU: Intel i7-7700K
MB: ASUS PRIME Z270-A
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2 x 8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz C15
SSD: Keep the same

So, would it be wasting my money or is it worth ?

Solution
there will be a substantial difference in performance. is it worth it, up to you.
as a side note, i5-8600K or i7-8700K + Z370MB would be much more rational choice unless you get the 7700K for ~200$

Thanks for your answer, and just asking out of ignorance here, why do you think is better going for 8700K + Z370 chipset?

Intel i7 8700K -> 425€
ASUS Prime Z370-A -> 189€
Total: 614€

Intel i7 7700K -> 299€
ASUS Prime Z270-A ->159€
Total: 458€

Something good from those extra 156€?

i5-8600K performs the same as the i7-7700K. and it should be ~300 euro. 8th gen are also running cooler and overclock more easily to 4.8-5.0GHz.
8700K has 6 cores and 12 threads vs 4 cores 8 threads on 7700K. there are quite a few games that benefit from more cores/threads already and will be much more soon. that not to mention multitasking like gaming and streaming. so you get a system that lasts longer and performs better.
