Approximate Purchase Date: As soon as possible, but realistically within two months considering the amount of parts.

Budget Range: Up to 2500 EUR before shipping and before rebates.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: #1: Gaming, #2: watching videos, #3: VR gaming (potentially), #4: word processing and surfing the internet etc.

Parts Not Required: I do not require a new keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitors (I have 2) or HDDs (I have 2 installed at the moment).

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: no preferred website.

Country: Belgium

Parts Preferences:
Storage: 1 SSD 500GB.
Case: At least a mid-tower case that has room for 1 SSD, and at least 2 HDDs.
GPU: an nVidia graphics card
Memory: 16 GB GB should suffice for the time being, but I will want to add more in the years to come.

Overclocking: Maybe, I’d like the option, but considering I haven’t overclocked parts before, I’d prefer to get really good gear that doesn’t need to be overclocked anytime soon to get great performance.

SLI or Crossfire: Yes, but I’ll buy the second card a year or two from now to spread the cost.

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I am planning to put this computer together myself. I’d prefer to not go through the hassle of getting an after-market CPU cooler, but in the interests of potential overclocking, it’s probably unavoidable, so please add your recommendation.

Thanks for the help, everyone!

Solution
I will state before you go through the below build that it is unbelievably overkill for 1080p as your listed resolution and as already said above, you may want to wait a few more weeks - a month for the new RTX 2000 series launch from Nvidia. With that said and done, this is the best i came up with at your budget... Initially it had 16GB RAM but budget easily had enough for 32GB and you mentioned you'd probably upgrade later... No need. Case comes down to personal preference but i just choose one i believe is excellent quality and meets your requirements. Hope this helps! :)

CPU: Intel -...
Hi lemjori, for your use case the 8700K, and GTX 1080 class will be a great match for 1080p gaming and all the use cases you have mentioned...

But I would hold of just a little as the new 9600, 9700 and 9900K 8 core 16 thread monster circa £450 and the new RTX 2080 are both releasing soon. The Nvidia RTX 2080 and 2080Ti are releasing in the next week or so and the 9900K will be releasing September/October so waiting would be a better option for you.

And it looks like with your current budget you should be able to do a perfect build with a 9700k or 9900K and RTX 2080..You are just buying at the right time.

If you want to buy right now, then:

Motherboard - ASRock Z370 Extreme4, socket 1151 Price Euro 164.99 at https://www.alternate.be/ASRock/Z370-Extreme4-socket-1151-moederbord/html/product/1384798?lk=6140

CPU - Intel 8700K price Euro 389.00 at https://www.alternate.be/Intel(R)/Core-i7-8700K-3-7-GHZ-(4-7-GHz-Turbo-Boost)-socket-1151-processor/html/product/1380849

RAM 16GB DDR4 3200 - Corsair 16 GB DDR4-3200 Kit price euro 197.90 at https://www.alternate.be/Corsair/16-GB-DDR4-3200-Kit-werkgeheugen/html/product/1220684?lk=8301

GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti GAMING X 11G Price Euro 969.00 at https://www.alternate.be/MSI/GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-GAMING-X-11G-grafische-kaart/html/product/1344016?lk=15378

SSD - ADATA XPG Gammix S11, 480 GB SSD - Price Euro 144.90 at https://www.alternate.be/ADATA/XPG-Gammix-S11-480-GB-SSD/html/product/1448091?lk=7965

Case is tough as it is a very personal choice and as far as a cooler is concerned a Dark Rock Pro 4, Cryrig, Noctua or 240/280 AIO will do the job.

Everything here is well under Euro 2000 and you should be able to find them at better prices...I am not from Belguim, so could not get the right prices. This will leave you a lot for a Case and cooler and still leave you money in the bank..

Thanks guys, those look like really solid builds. I'm going to take a day or two and look them over and see what the RTX GPU will do. I might opt for 16GB memory in favour of a new monitor after all, considering the horsepower I'm getting. And as for the budget, I've been saving up for the last 6 years and sadly enduring quite a few games at terrible quality. I'll be glad to enter into a 60+ fps era again!

There is zero reason to be running 1080p/60 at that budget. Throwing money after expensive parts for nothing - you will never, ever, need sli for that resolution.

This is a more balanced build with a 1440p/144hz/gsync monitor and the GTX 1080 is a placeholder - don’t buy until you see what the new 2080 has to offer this week.

(Edit: not trying to sound like a jerk - just think you’d really enjoy the step up to a better monitor; gsync is awesome and the 2070/2080 will drive it like a champ).
