Building a Compact Gaming Machine!!

Hello!!
I am looking to build a high performance gaming PC in as compact a size as possible without having to worry about excessive heating and performance drop.

This is what I could come up with (all suggestions and modifications are welcome):
CPU - i7-8700k
GPU - 1080Ti
Ram - 16 GB (atleast)
Storage - 1 512GB SSD and 1 2TB HDD

the main dilemma is whether to go for mini ITX or micro ATX motherboard and which case and cooling system would be the best?

thx...but can you please elaborate on performance differences b/w mini itx and micro atx or there isn't one?

there is no difference in performance...the difference is merely of form factor
