Hi all,

This is my first time posting here, I first started with looking into single board computers like the raspberry pi or banana pi. I came to the conclusion that they did not have enough power for a good game server, i saw a post on a website showing a new gigabyte ITX board that has a quad core processor. i am having trouble find cheap ram for this board as it takes ddr3 so-dimm ram so if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be great, I'm looking for about 4gb. I need to allso find a case for this build and a power supply. I have a 300gb hard drive so i don't need a new one.

Thanks in adance,
Piersman

Heres the link to the page showing the board:

Do you just want sort of a "pretend" server or is this a serious system? I'm asking because of you are serious, then you probably need stuff like IPMI on the motherboard and that complicates selection. If you ant a media server, then the CPU should support QuickSync (don't know if AMD has an equivalent).

Also do you have an estimation for processor load for your game server? is it mostly network/processing or RAM or ...?

300GB hard drive does not sound that much for something that will be a media server. so will you be adding additional drives?

as for the case, do you have an idea what you are looking for? Traditional PC? Or a small, square cube? OR maybe something that fits in with other media devices like set-top boxes and receivers?

Yes i do mean to host a server for online games.
