My first post ever here, so I'd like to say hi to the community. So this is my first time building a gaming computer so go easy on me. :#

Approximate Purchase Date: Next month


Budget Range: < usd 1000


System Usage from Most to Least Important: GAMING


Parts Not Required: graphic card, psu


Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com


Country of Origin: Indonesia


Parts Preferences: intel or amd proc (i got an nvidia gtx460), for mobo i still have no idea


Overclocking: Maybe, no idea how to.


SLI or Crossfire: No idea what this is.


Monitor Resolution: 1024x768 I guess?


Additional Comments: able to run high graphic games, pretty much it :3

If you want to buy a new monitor also you can renounce the SSD and buy a nice full HD 21-24 inch monitor instead. The cart configuration costs about 900$. I recommend this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117 .

You have good airflow with that case, 2 optical drives, 1 blu ray RW and one DVD-RW, 4Gb of RAM, 1Tb HDD, 64Gb SSD, core i5 2500k CPU, ASUS sabertooth motherboard. You said you have the PSU and video card already.

SLi or crossfire means using 2 video cards on the same motherboard to play games. When you put two video cards the performance increases, not with 100% but it increases more than 60%, in some cases around 90%, depending on the game, video cards used and driver optimization.

Later on you can buy another gtx460 and SLI them. Also in 1k you can buy 8Gb of RAM but i do not think it is necessary.

Sorry I wasnt being really clear on my info, I was hoping to change some stuffs in my current PC. It's specs is quite imbalanced so I plan on balancing it.

CPU=Intel E5700 dual core (planning on getting core i7 2600k or i5 2500k?)
Mobo=ASRock G41M-VS3 (could you recommend me some good mobo 200-250 usd price range)
Graphic card=asus nvidia gtx 460
Harddisk=ST3500418AS [Hard drive] (500.11 GB)
RAM=2x2gb
case=modena gtx2500 (planning on getting a new one as this one is really tiny and has no airflow)
cooling system=none (planning on getting this too, pls recommend me something good around 50usd)
psu=thermaltake toughpower xt 775w

I'd really appreciate help as im planning to get all of these asap

um is there a certain reason as to why people recommend i5 2500k and not the i7 2600k? So the i5 is way more reasonable to get atm? Oh and for the mobo could I get a suggestion for a p67 chipset?

the Z68 chipset is better, and the real world gaming performance difference beetween the 2600K and the 2500K is nil, hence why everyone here would reccommend a 2500K.

the i5 almost as good for gaming the speed difference is almost negligible so unless you have an infinite budget the cost saving are better put elsewhere ie twoard a second gpu. I would compare the i7 and i5 like I would compare the numbers pi(the i7) and 3.14(the i5) this is only for gaming. video encoding and virtual pcs do better with the i7. stuff that can use hyperthreading

For a gaming build it comes down to price point between the Z68 and P67 chipset. Neither one is better than the other in regards to a gaming build.

For gaming... the 2500K for the fact other than FSX I don't know of any games that take advantage of hyper threading.

aight thanks for the massive suggestion guys! I've made up my mind to get the i5. NOW onto the mobo, so I heard p67 is specialized for overclocking? Since I know NONE about it although hoping I could do it sometime soon so maybe I could pick some other motherboard specialized for gaming. Err so the gigabyte z68a is it? Any other recommendations? Oh and the for the case, I'm not too sure I'd want to spend 100 usd just for the case itself I'd rather get a better mobo with the extra cash, so suggestions? Thanks again guys, sorry for massive block of text

I already recommended you a case that is under 100$. A good case with good airflow is important. That's why @Why_Me recommended a high air flow case(HAF). My choosing was because i do not like the design, not because it is better or worse.

ASUS sabertooth has a thermal shield, other than that the PCI-E slots have another 2 slots from one another and that helps when using 2 video cards, the temperatures are lower. But that's the only asus motherboard that i would recommend, i don't like asus.

P67 and Z68 are the same in terms of gaming performance.

err am I missing something cuz I cant find the link to the case you mentioned on your previous post o.o

Well right now I'm down to: Gigabyte GA-Z68A or the GA-Z68X, ASUS P8P67 M-Pro and the ASUS Sabertooth P67.

I've been lurking around and basically seeing every gpu recommended is 560 :x Do I need to replace my 460 to run high-graphic games?

if you currently have a GTX460 then no, just SLI that 460!

All parts recommended here war based around your claim to have a video card and a PSU. If you want a faster video card buy a gtx560 or above. But i would also say sli two gtx460. A new GTx460 is cheap, depending where you buy it.

I would go for something higher than gtx560ti, a 570 but that costs more money.

Alright, I guess after I got the new case, proc and mobo I'd consider getting a second 460. Thanks for the suggestions guys!
