I have been working on this build for a while. I have debated on many things; i7 or i5? gtx 770 or 760? 8gb or 16gb? I think I'm finally done with this build and would like one final inspection to make sure this build will be okay and future proof for gaming.

^evo's prices are down about 10$ for the same size ssd's.

As far as i7 vs i5, the major differences are triple channel ram and hyper threading.

Really great build ! Here is the only few things I would change:

- The case is too big for the amount of hardware you put in it. Even if you would do SLI, a mid-tower case would be plenty of space for you.

- I wouldn' go with a Corsair PSU, even more a CX one. Choose a widely trusted brand in power supplies such as XFX or Seasonic. The power supplies from Corsair tend to break a lot.

- Check the prices but I think a Samsung 840 EVO would be cheaper than the 840 Pro and the differences in speeds are minimal.

As far as i7 vs i5, the major differences are triple channel ram and hyper threading.
IE a i7 has handel 6 memory slots and has 8 cores. for most gamers the current gens i5 4670K is the best cpu for gaming with all of intels current fetures, mainly being better igpu's (mainly used for a program called virtue mvp that uses both the igpu and gpu, igpu for windows areo and gpu for intensive games and such.)

Go for the i5 4670K, unless you do major editing go then a i7 4770K and z87 chipset boards allow you to overclock the k series cpu's.

760 vs 770? = 660ti vs 680? The 770 has much better $/performance then a 760. the 770 will handle most games at 1080P, but for higher resolutions like 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 or if your a ridicules rich wanker then a 4k monitor, I would suggest to wait for the 600$ custom cooler Radeon R9 290x.

As for a case + fans a 750D, 800D or 900D should suit you well for several years, being the best full tower cases you can think of and you wont need to buy extra fans.

8gb vs 16gb? I have this RAM and I never have memory errors or issues. For most 8gb is enough, but games like Battle field 4 at super high resolutions like 2560x1600 is going to need more RAM.

As for the cooler, I would also get a bit of IC DIAMOND 7 for it, bring temps down up to 30 F.

Over all, I would say just change the case n gpu to something like a aftermarket cooled r9 290 or 290x and a 750d/800d/900D case. I might be something to look at; but a modular psu is going to give you the ultimate cable management

Corsair cases a the best currently. But a full-tower case is too big for the amount of hardware he's going to put in it. Even if he would do SLI, a mid-tower would be plenty of space.

Go for a Carbide 500R or a Graphite 600T (if you got the money)

btw, if he wants to keep the case around for a few more builds, and ends up getting enough money to go QuadFire or QuadSLI, I think he will want to go full tower.
