[SOLVED] building a gaming PC

I don't play all the shooting games and will never play in an online community. I was drawn to gaming through the settlement building of Fallout 4 and so that's what I'm hoping to find more of. From what I've learned when I try to use the mods people make for Fallout it becomes too labor intensive for my PS4 so I'm trying to circumvent the issue by just building my own gaming pc and thereby possibly be able to create more in the settlement realm. I'm totally ignorant about this stuff and will only be building this gaming pc for gaming (no computer work) and will only be playing connected to my 4k TV hdmi.

But I think I'll still have to purchase a keyboard and possibly mouse just to be able to upload windows 10 and the drivers that will go with whatever system I put together. Thus far I'm looking at a be quiet silent 802 case, and possibly a pure loop 280 Liquid cooler. I have no interest in the RGB lighting and can save money without it. From what I've learned it's important to put more into the graphics card but here's where I get lost over things like overclocking and a threadripper CPU. Yikes! All I know is I do want power and I don't want latientcy? But I'm not going to be running around shooting and expecting the AI to keep up with me. That's not me.

I also know I need to be sure everything is compatible and I'm just getting lost and sure would appreciate a little advice. Leaning toward the RYZEN 7 chip? About a $1,500 budget (fantasy football championship!). Thanks for your help.

Worst time ever to build a gaming rig due to the shortage of video cards but it is what it is. I suggest this: Wait until next month when Rocket Lake is released.

A cheap sub $150 B560 motherboard ... something like this for example.

GIGABYTE B560M DS3H (rev. 1.0)

Intel Rocket Lake i5 11400F ($160 - $170 would be my guess)

Don't need an expensive cpu cooler for that chip. Something like this would do just fine.

Add an SSD.

Mushkin Enhanced Pilot-E M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D TLC Internal SSD $107.99

or save money and go with a slower SSD ... something like this ...

Team Group CX2 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3D NAND Internal SSD $85.99

And the all elusive RTX 30XX series cards. RTX 3080 for 4K resolution. Register on Bestbuy and the EVGA site, sign up for notifications and pray you land one of these cards. FE edition such as this one below stays at the suggested retail price.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 8GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 Graphics Card $699.99

750w to power that gpu.

Seasonic FOCUS GM-750, 750W 80+ Gold, Semi-Modular, Fan Control in Silent and Cooling Mode, $119.99

This is the current 10th gen / comet lake (i5 10400F) cpu to the successor one I posted up above. Expect the 11400F RE Rocket Lake cpu to run circles around this one due to native support of 3200MHz RAM and up to 15% improved IPC. If its gaming you're after this chip is an AMD slayer and does it for a lot less money. There's a drop down menu at the bottom of this link ... look for 1080P and 1440 on that menu so you can see the graphs.
