Hi, Thanks for any input in advanced. I will use it mostly as a workstation for school. I am an architecture student, which means I use programs such as Revit, Rhino, 3ds Max, and Adobe CS. I will be rendering and working with large 3d models. I'd like to verify that everything is compatible/ I haven't over looked anything.

I don't really plan to overclock. Thoughts on the GTX 970 vs other 900 or 800 series? can't afford OpenGL, so... Should I match brands of GPU and MoBo?

Everything is compatible. Some things I'd like to point out:

CPU cooler: I do not have the right to judge this cooler but never in my time on Tomshardware have I seen brand or cooler. Just make sure it has really good reviews, it does not seem to be too common which sometimes indicates it's not very good.

RAM: Try to get some higher-clocked RAM, at least 1866Mhz, as 1600Mhz does not seem sufficient for your use.

PSU: Just so expensive always! I think you can find a Seasonic or XFX PSU of same quality for a cheaper price.

Graphics Card: Is your work really GPU or CPU intense? Also, which one are you choosing, Gigabit or MSI?

Thanks for the advice!
From what I know 3d modelling is very graphics intensive (constant rotating at orbiting), and programs are increasing gpu acceleration. and when rendering it's all CPU; I know companies like BOXX has like dual Xeons in their workstations (they are also $5000+)

I don't think I can get the MSI board should i get a Gigabit GPU to match the mobo?

So maybe this:
