Hi guys,
A friend of mine ask me to help him build a system. He will be using it for music mixing(he is DJ parttime) Video Editing (personal videos)and image editing(photo editing) will be using photoshop. What will be the best part to use for building the system. Any recommendation on the processor and mobo to use well maybe all the parts for the new system. His budget is 800 Dollars. will be difference if i use a C2D or AMD in performance and the time it takes to convert the video into dvd.. Thanks in advance.(also will be using lightscribe so any recommendation on what drive to get too.)

Vid editing/photoshop needs a good CPU. Any one of the q6600/E8400 would be the best option. AMD CPUs are no match for either of these Intel C2D ones. Yes it does affect the conversion time. So:

CPU: Intel E8400/Q6600: ~$200

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L : $86.67

RAM: 2gb ddr2 800 crucial ballastix : $29

GPU: 3850/8600/9600gt...whichever is the cheapest available ~$100

PSU: Corsair 450vx : ~$60

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda ST3250410AS 250GB: $65

Total: $537

Does your friend need a monitor as well?

Don't forget a case.

EDIT: Now that there is a HDD, I have a couple of other suggestions.

The WD 640GB (WD6400AAKS) is a great performer, and at $130 only costs $0.203 a gigabyte, just under the other good contender - the $105 Seagate 7200.11 500GB, $0.210 per gigabyte.

Alternatively, you could go with 2 smaller drives. Keeping apps on one and data (whichever media file is being worked on) on the other. That would possibly get you a better performance benefit than one faster drive.
