Heya,

As the title states, I am building a new PC. I am going to be playing games, photoshop and video editing at 1440p, 144hz (27" x2). I would love to hit that 144hz on most games (don't mind turning some settings down to achieve this). Aesthetics matter heaps because a lot of people will see my PC and I am a big aesthetics fan. I have a budget of about $3.7k-$4k NZD. I prefer AIO's over air coolers for aesthetics and acoustics

Games I will play
Overwatch, Minecraft, Rainbow Six, TC Breakpoint, CS:GO, Subnautica, ARK Survival, COD, Battlefield etc

Any help is appreciated!

It's slightly under budget. But a solid build. You may hev to dial back some settings to hit 144hz, but that will apply to most games.

You can see here in Tom's review, a GTX2070 super won't hit 144hz on Ultra settings, so should be achievable at lower settings: https://www.tomshardware.com/review...2060-super-geforce-rtx-2070-super,6207-3.html

The CPU in the review is an 8086k, which is only a fraction behind the 3700x in gaming FPS at 1440p. So it's a reasonable comparison to extrapolate performance.

12 cores/24 threads. 32 GB of Ram (at one of the 'sweet spots': DDR4-3600 CAS 16), a 2080 Super GPU, a 1 TB M.2 SSD and 2x 3 TB HDD. Well under your 4K limit

Nice build @ScrewySqrl, but a Hyper 212 for the 3900x @ $132 is mad. The stock cooler does nearly as good a job. The Wraith Prism is only a fraction behind in thermal performance.

You could add that $130 to something that will give more performance. Also 2 x (2 x 8gb) matched kit hopefully will work. A quad pack or just 2 x 16gb may give better compatibility. Maybe the savings for the cooler could go to a solid 2 x 16gb kit, rather than have a 'potential' issue with the DIMMS. not being perfectly matched?

Anyway, the trade offs really do give a more powerful system. Good job!

Thanks guys. I'll take both your lists and kinda mix them up to get what I think is good and worth it!

Used up more of the budget, for more storage, and some other things. 512gb ssd, for OS and programs, 1tb SSD, for games, 250gb ssd for a scratch disk, with a HDD for storing your work, and such.
