Hello, Ive been put in charge of building a video server, i was put in charge of this while on vacation so i just threw this together, aaannnnddddd now im wondering "will it blend"



SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: sole purpose is storing and serving video

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: mouse keyboard moniter

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg.com

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: already have the parts

OVERCLOCKING: No

SLI OR CROSSFIRE: No

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Parts i have:
case.
core i7 930.
asus p6t6 ws.
12gb ocz 1600 ddr3.
4x 1.5tb wd hdd.
ati 5770 1gb ddr5.
1000w rosewell psu.
and the lill fella ocz 50gb ssd that came with a sticker that said "my ssd is faster than your ssd" r/r @280

i liked this mb because if the dual ether jacks and on board raid but the sad part after skimming the manual is looks like im not going to be able to use the ssd b/c the mb will throw it into the raid drive.

so my question is can i use the sata ssd in the sas ports with the adapter?

sorry im getting ahead of myself the os will be win server 2003

And the most important question Will it blend

Video file server? What you need is an NAS, not a rig.

Is this already built? As guanyu said, this looks like a gaming PC not a server.

Yes i've put the parts together but havnt fired it up yet. I wanted to get some advice first. This will have win server 2003 enterprise loaded on it

If you use that rig as a file server, just...don't complain about having huge electrical bill.

It's going to be a wrokstation/server/storageserver, and I don't have to pay the bill lol
