Hi All, with your help, every 5 years i build a new PC and its that time again.
I needed specifically for Audio production, heavy Sample Loads and also
heavy CPU loads on VSTs. My current Setup is an i7 5820k but its time to change.
After doing research i am still comfortable to stick with Intel, too scared of AMD
even though they have some nice Processors. Many people tried to talk me into
AMD but i can't give up, just too scared. So, being decided on the Platform,
based on the research i did i think the i9 10920X fits me best, budget and
whatever wise...even though all the I9s are so confusing now.
My question is not so somple, its: Where do i start now?
I need help mostly with CPU, RAM, Mobo and GFX, the rest will be easy for me
to figure out. Some of the requirements will be:
At least 2x m.2 Drives and probably 3-4 regular SSDs.
I'd go probably for 4x8GB, no more than 64GB of RAM
BlueTooth and/or Wifi would be nice too
I still need to use this: https://www.newegg.com/syba-model-sy...82E16815124107
And i wanna stay more on the ASUS and GSkill side.
As of now this is all i came up with:

Intel Core i9-10920X Cascade Lake 12-Core 3.5 GHz
ASUS Prime X299-A II LGA 2066 Intel X299 SATA 6Gb/s ATX Intel Motherboard
G.SKILL Flare X Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2933

Thank you All, i appreciate any help

"pre-overclocked" is meaningless marketing jargon. Don't pay any attention to that.

You mentioned you're doing audio work, which doesn't require much/any graphics prowess. Integrated graphics would be perfectly fine for what you listed.

These are just cursory lists so you get an idea of cost difference. Seems that the Asus X299-A II is on the lower end of the X299 cost range, but I selected something middling from the Z490 crowd. Also, I question buying X299 and NOT taking advantage of the quad-channel memory, but.... I kept the same dual channel kit for comparison sake.
PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K 3.7 GHz 10-Core Processor ($550.00)
Motherboard: MSI MPG Z490 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX...
What about the i9-10920X makes it more attractive/necessary than the i9-10900K? (aside from the extra 2c/4t). The 10900K has integrated graphics so you wouldn't need a graphics card.

We're talking about HUNDREDS of $$ of savings between the CPU and mobo here.

Your newegg link to Syba....(add-in card presumably) isn't working for me.

Thanks Tennis.
The reason i am going for the 10920x most likely the 2 Cores and just the X letter, lol.
Now, as far as Graphics go,, i don't know how good those Graphics can be,
i don't know NOTHING about integrated Graphics in a CPU nor how i would be able to use.

Tennis, what does this mean? It is from the internet...what do they mean by pre-overclocked?

''Once again, Intel aims its flagship chip squarely at enthusiasts and power users, touting the Core i9-10900K as the fastest gaming processor in the world. That performance comes mostly via the processor's extra cores and the fact that it basically comes pre-overclocked to an all-core 4.9 GHz, not to mention the peak 5.3 GHz speeds,,

Thanks Tennis. I will do some research on this. The 10900k can not be found
for that price nor for anything less than 800$ as of now, i tried everytwhere.
I am not so educated on the MoBos even though i know the dual and quad channel
setups. But i can use Quad only if i go for the 10920x right?

I am just wondering if i just forget about prices and go between the 2 what would be best.
My original budget is about 2.5k minus Monitor and Drives.

Just because things are out of stock, doesn't mean their tweaked out prices are what you should pay
  • https://www.adorama.com/inbx8110900k.html?utm_source=adl-gbase-hometech
  • RX570 = $140, not $260.
  • NORMALLY, a EVGA G3 750 would cost you $90 or less.....PSU prices are insane this year. Don't buy one if you can help it.
  • They do sell 2x32GB kits of RAM for $100 less if you're going with the 10900K + Z490 board.
  • What cooler are you using on your current PC? Could this be carried over to the new build, or will the current machine get a new home?

Thank Bro, will post a list of my rig down. I will get all the Drives out of it for the new Build.
But, if i can use 1 or 2 things only and save 2-300$ than there is no point of breaking that
PC down for 2-300 bucks, i can still keep it and use it for other things, it is an i7 5820k
which actually is not bad at all.

Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Black Window Edition (with 3 Fans)
MOBO: ASUS SaberTooth X99 USB 3.1
GFX: ASUS GTX 960 Strix OC Edition 2GB
CPU: Intel I7 5820K
RAM: 4x8 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 Series, PC4 21300
Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S (1Fan)
PSU: EVGA SuperNova G2 650
Storage:
  1. SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D
  2. SAMSUNG 850 PRO 2.5" 256GB SATA III 3-D
  3. SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3-D
  4. WD BLACK SERIES 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s

I could see reusing the case and the 1TB SSD.
Get a cheaper case to put the old system in, and you'll still have 2x256GB SSDs and a 2TB HDD in the old system.

I actually have an Antec900 laying around. On the CPU i am set, i9 10900k,
i have to figure out a Mobo, GFX and RAM. The rest is easier.
GFX does not have to be something out of this world.
