[SOLVED] Building a new PC [UK] [£900]

Hey! I wanted to build a new pc as my old one is 6 years old. The PC would mainly be used for gaming and just writing college work on word/ researching stuff on the internet.
I have around £900 pounds for it, with some leniency. Also, I do posses stuff the PC peripherals and a monitor. Additionally, I am planning to use one of the hard drives from my old PC which is a 1TB drive. Any suggestions on the components?

What would you think about going with ryzen 3600x instead of the 3600 and a radeon 5700XT ?

If the difference in cost was only just a few £, then sure why not. But they are essentially the same chip, so if the price difference is more than a few £££ then stick with the 3600 and overclock it.

I'm haven't been a fan of AMD GPU's for quite a while. 5700XT is a damn good card though, and would be great up to 1440p 60 for most games. It's a little faster than the 2060 Super too! I also think Nvidia have better drivers, but that's my opinion.

Do you think going for a 2070 super instead of the 5700xt is a good option when paired with an ryzen 3600?
Also I did read that the MSI AMD Ryzen B450M MORTAR MAX is a good mobo and seems to be few pounds cheaper then tomahawk, you think that is a good option?
Additionally, what would you think about going with an i5 9600K it seems to be faster than the ryzen in terms of single core performance. Yet, I have read the ryzen is a better all rounder and may be beneficial in the future as games companies start to use more cores/

The Mortar max and tomahawk max are to the bone the same motherboard its just a form factor difference (mAtx and ATX for the later) and extra ports. For example : Mortar max has 2 m.2 slots and has 2 more USB3 gen1 ports than the tomahawk.

Would the 5700XT be good for 144hz/1080p gaming or you think going with the 2070 super is better?

Yes, it would be pretty capable at that res/hz (game dependent of course). The 5700XT and 2070 Super are very close in performance.

Agreed, the 2070 Super has ray tracing. Turn that on and FPS drop. That's the trade off.

Is it worth the cost? That's up to you.
