Hello, i am not sure i got the section of the forum right, sorry if i missed it.

I will be building a pc next week, my current pc is falling apart and it's very old :

mobo : Foxconn A88GMV
cpu : Athlon ii x4 620 2.6Ghz (OC to 3.0)
gpu : R7 360 2gb
ram : 4x 2GB ddr3 1600Mhz
hdd : 1TB (new)
psu : LC Power 600W (6+8 gpu pins)
dvd : some random i don't really know what, it is old af 😀
monitor : ViewSonic 1080p 4ms (i think) 60Hz

so i will be keeping the gpu psu and hdd, since gpu and hdd are new (bought few months ago), and psu is old but didn't fail me ever and it's plenty for any build, will swap it maybe, depends on the cost of the rest of the system.
I know the card is not even mid-end but it's enough for me, i am on a tight budget, and wanted to ask what is best to get, i would primary game, i mostly play LoL and Overwatch, since i play on this monitor i don't really need that much gpu power, i will upgrade the gpu when i find money to upgrade the monitor too. that said, i may or may not be streaming in the future,

i know what parts are on the market, however i am interested in what amd will have to offer for 2nd gen. Ryzen, and would love to see what will X470 chipset offer. originally i had 2 choices :

Z370-E Strix + Pentium Gold (not released yet 2c/4t but would be sufficient for my current need's) + 8GB ddr4
(with this i will need to upgrade my cpu rather sooner so i gave up on it)

and second option was

Z370-E Strix + i3-8100 + 8GB ddr4

The second option look's promising in the upgrade-ability path which is my biggest concern
i didn't want to cheap-out on motherboad since overclocking might help in future after i upgrade the cpu which i have planned to, because what sane person would go with high-end Z chipset and pentium or locked i3 XD.

I know that after 2nd Gen Ryzen, AMD Pormised that 3rd Gen will be supported by AM4 at least, (maybe even 4th but i doubt it). And intel being Intel might even ask for their Z470 to be required for next gen (9th ice lake or cannon not sure on the name tho).

Now my question is,
Should i wait for the X470 or but Z370 or X370 ?
If i would to go to AMD side, i will get R5 1600 as it is best for the money, i will overclock it too, and would like to not cheap on motherboard, althou i would not go to Crosshair and Hero that is too much enthusiast even for me ( i might be slightly).

Thank you in advance for your help on this topic!

Regrads,
Aleximus.

Sry for the late reply. I thought I had said everything in my previous post itself.

If you go for x470 gaming 7, that will leave little for ur cpu. If you can get 2x4gb of 3000/3200mhz ram along with ryzen 1600/2600, that's fine. If not, the lower cost 1300X is like 130 bucks if I am not wrong.

The 2400G apu is 170 which is a 40 dollar premium but the Vega 11 gpu there outperforms ur R7 360. So you can very well sell ur gpu for 50 bucks. And even cpu wise, the 2400G might have better performance than the 1300x.
The x470 would cost u around $100. So why not try a B350 like the asrock pro4 and a 1300X?

But honestly though, the ryzen refresh is launching in April. With a ryzen 2600, u won't need a cpu replacement for another 4 years.

If you really want that new x470 mobo and still be within ur budget, u can sell ur gpu and go for the ryzen 5 2400G apu which has performs a bit better than ur gpu. And when you have saved enough cash, u can go for a new cpu/gpu/psu.

Thanks for the reply, as i said, i would like to go with a higher-end motherboard, the new low-end cpu's are more than enough for me, at least for now, i would like to have a nice upgrade path tho, 8gb's of DDR4 are enough for me, as i am using 8gbs of ddr3 and it is plenty, i know intel cpu's are a bit better at gaming then amd, but for overwatch/lol i think ryzen will be sufficient, i am just not sure should i go with something like ryzen 3 1200 , or should i just go insta with the R5 1600, or maybe even wait for the Zen+, i am not a biggest fan of the apu's as they eat the Ram, and if oyu want to use integrated graphic's to full potential you will have to dedicate 2gb's of system ram to it, as i have gpu that have 2 gb of gddr5 i don't need to get apu. the new Gigabyte board the X470 Gaming 7 WiFi looks promising with the actual fin stack on the mosfet and vrm cooling. i am not sure how expensive the board will be.
