Hi everybody, i have finally decided that I should upgrade my pc, I do like to game a little, I am currently running a hp pavilion pc, however I have really outgrown it, with new titles such as hl2 getting ready to drop, i seriously need help to build a new pc, this pc is currently:

1.7GHZ Celeron.
1GB RAM
1 x 40GB HD
1 x RADEON 9800 Pro

i am thinking i can can deftinally keep the video card, and hd, because space doesnt matter to me, and the video card is fairly new, i would prob have to buy new memory seen as i dont know much aboutit, as itcame with the pc.

Can anybody recommend a soulution, i would need a nice case, psu, motherboard, memory, and a nice fast cpu (but cheap), iam not looking to spend > 500$ - 600$ for these items together :)

Thanks.

I gather you're not an OCer.

I suggest looking into AMD 64bit cpu's. I think they start at 2800+. Look for the socket 754, they are less expensive than the socket 939 IIRC. Pick up a gig (2 sticks of 512MB) of Corsair value select pc3200. Google motherboard reveiews and choose one with the features you want.

PSU? Enermax or Fortron, 420 watts or so Really depends on what else you got in the box.

Cases? Just google and find one that appeals to you (looks, size & color-wise), Get one that already has 2 or 3 fans for cooling. I like one with a side panel fan to blow on my 9800 pro to keep it cool.

EDIT: Repost this in cpu section, you'll get more/better answers.
