Building a new rig...

I'm building a new gaming pc and get an opinion on the components I'm considering. It's actually been a looong time since I had a new pc since im just now getting back into gaming: my current comp is a PIII, yes very old! anyway this is what im considering: please feel free to make any suggestions.
AMD Socket 939 Athlon 64 FX-53
2 160gb segates
Nforce3 250 (if anyone can recomend a specific board it would be great)
cooler master wave master case
sony dru700a dvd writer
1gb of corsair xms extreme (2 sticks)
480 antec watt powersupply
im waiting for the 9800xt PE, but i've heard nvidia cards getting a boost when run with a nvidia board is this true?

i would say that the 64-FX is kinda of a waste of money, its just really expensive. something like a 3800 will save like 80 bucks with nearly the same performance.(but i guess in the price range you're looking at, 80 bucks is nothing)

and instead of a 9800 xt, get an x800 pro...its much better for nearly the same price.

i dont know if there are any nforce chipsets for 939 yet, at least i havn't seen any on sale. i only know of two boards for 939, an abit and an asus.

and getting two 80 Gb hard drives and putting them in raid 0 will make them fly,while saving you some more money. i dont think there's any reason to have 320 GB of storage when 180 will be just as much overkill.

sorry i keep referring to price and giving rather vague suggestions, im just used to building budget pc's...cus im poor.

I recommend following changes:

S939 A64 3800+ instead of FX53
MSI K8N Neo Platinum (mobo)
LiteOn SOHW-832S instead of Sony DRU-700A

A64 3800+ and FX53 has practically identical performance. No point of spending extra money for FX53

Sony DRU-700A is rebadged LiteOn SOHW-812S. It costs more just because of it has "Sony" name.

No point of spending extra money for FX53

In this price range unlocked multiplier might be worth the extra money!

If I had the money to buy a 3800+/FX-53, I would surely get the FX-53 for the extra CACHE and the unlocked multiplier. An alternative to the FX-53 is the 3500+ not the 3800+. The 3500+ is more than 200$ cheaper for barely noticable performance drop.

It's tricky to use words like <b><font color=green>AMD</font color=green></b> or <b><font color=blue>Intel</font color=blue></b> in a signature some users could think your are biased.

Thanks for the input guys, I didn't know that lite on and sony were the same; about the fx-53 does it overclock better than the 3800+?
