Building a new system — need advice for GPU

Hello guys,

I am building a new system and almost bought everything I wanted, but I'm kind of stuck on which GPU to buy :(

I am also planning on uprading my display from 60hz to a 144hz one.

This is my setup (bought everything, except the case):

CPU: i5-8600k
Mainboard: AsRock Z370 Pro 4
CPU-Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock 4
PSU: be quiet! Straight Power 11, 650W
Memory: HyperX Fury black, 16GB (2x8) 2666
Case: be quiet! Silent Base 600

Now I am torn between the 1070 TI Strix or the 2070 Strix OC ... I read many posts about:

- 1070 Ti Strix < 2070 Strix OC for games
- 2070 not worth the money (where I live, its a +70 €)
- 2070 being not really that better as a 1070 Ti
- 1070 for 1080p enough (yes, I don't plan to play on higher resolutions)

What would you recommend me? Any helpful tips and advices would be awesome!
Thank you guys in advance :)

Did I miss something or do you need additional information?

Should I have used the „Looking for a solution“ format instead of Discussion? Sorry if so ... I am new to this forum.

Either way you go 1070 TI or RTX 2070 think about warranty, tech built into the card, your budget. Figure you want the cards to last for at least 3-5 years if you are lucky.

Thank you for your response!
I would buy one of them as new product and don‘t plan to extend the standard warranty.

Performance wise — would you recommend the 2070 or will the 1070 ti do just fine?

I would upgrade my current screen to a 120 or 144 Hz one in the next few months.

The 2070 should be okay. As far as the 1070ti, I have a non ti 1070, and can play a good majority of games at 80+fps. Some higher with very few slightly lower. The 2070 will probably be slightly better and may very well last longer, but the 1070 is still no slouch.

Thank you for your answer! That helped me alot! :)

Also, regarding some people writing about „card failing“ ... are those serious or maybe more of user errors?
