I recently sold some property and have enough money to build a nice computer. Although i dont consider myself a gamer i do like to play games occasionally and i like to try newer games so performance is important to me. Even though i dont play much i want to be able to play anything. Other than that i watch a lot video and other stuff that doesnt require what im building. This is all about just having the satisfaction in knowing that i could do things if i wanted to.

Heres what i have chosen. Tell me what you think.

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz 6MB Cache Quad-Core

ASUS P8Z77-V Pro LGA 1155 Motherboard

Corsair Dominator 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz Desktop Memory

EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB DDR5

Corsair AX760 760W Power Supply

WD Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" OEM Internal Hard Drive (x2)

ASUS 24x CD/DVD Internal Drive

Nzxt Hybrid Full Tower Computer Case

Samsung SyncMaster 27" LED Monitor

Cooler Master V6 GT 120mm CPU Cooler

Overclocking? Budget? Need OS?
So far:
-Expensive motherboard. You'll be fine with an Asus P8Z77-V LK.
-You don't need 16gb of ram. Grab 2x4gb rated at 1600mhz, CAS9 and 1.5v (unless you can find 1866mhz for cheaper)
-GTX680 offers very minimal performance increase over the GTX670. I'll rather grab stick with a GTX670 or grab a Radeon HD 7970.
-If you stick with a GTX670, your psu is big enough for SLI. If you grab a Radeon HD 7970, upgrade to a 850w.

Can you please list the prices of each part and where you are getting the prices from?

I will be overclocking. I chose the mb because it has all the oc features i wanted and some extras that i thought were nice. I went with 16g of ram because i could and i want this computer to last a few years.

Around here and online the price of the gtx 680 and gtx 670 is not that much. I decided to pay a little extra and get the better one.

-Asus P8Z77-V LK overclocks just as well at a cheaper price. Of course the one you chose has some extra features, but will you ever be using those features?
-Buy 8gb for now and another 8gb later when you need it. As a gamer, 8gb is still plenty.
-Where are you buying your parts from?

Good call on the mb. It looks like it has everything i want and its a bit cheaper.
Im getting all the parts from future shop. Its easy to order online from them, free shipping, and prices are pretty good. Also they have an excellent return policy

I would also like to tell you about the current rig im using

mb..P5G41T-M LX PLUS

cpu..E8500

Memory..8 gigs 1066 kingston

gpu..evga geforce gtx 460 v2

psu..600w brand name, braided cables

tri boot...windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, Vista ultimate 32, linux mint

21 and 24 inch flat screen monitors

Cooler Master Hyper TX3 92mm CPU Cooler

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio PCI Sound Card

I was going to upgrade my current cpu and mb but decided to make a new computer. Money is not a problem but i dont want to spend $1000 for a cpu or even more for a gpu. I want to keep it somewhat reasonable.

My current system works well and can play games pretty good, i just want to build something thats a lot better and will last me for a while.

One question i have....i5 or i7? I mostly play games but i dabble in video stuff. Is the i7 good for gaming? Ive heard its overkill for gaming but is it worse than an i5?

OH good job for pointing that out! :D
Here's a good one: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/corsair-corsair-850w-power-supply-cp-9020044-na-cp-9020044-na/10232881.aspx?path=326575eaaff781f76cb2fd580e3697e8en02&SearchPageIndex=1

-The main difference between the i5 and i7 is the hyper-threading. Hyper-threading basically gives it double the cores. So even though the i7-3770k is a quad-core, the hyper-threading makes it like an octa-core. That being said, not many games utilize more than 4cores so the i7-3770k will perform close to the i5-3570k.
