Building A PC. Building Area?

So pretty much, my house is all carpet except for a small area of wood. When Building My pc should I stand on the small area of wood? Also my counter tops are I think Granite But May Be Something Else. What Do I DO?

Standing on the carpet will be ok so long as you keep discharging any static that may have built up on you by touching something metal, usually your PC case, before touching a component

You should be fine as long as you keep the static electricity build off of you. Grab a $5 static bracelet and connect it to the metal area on your case.
