I was wondering if you guys could list out the parts for a desktop that i might get one built at micro center.
I don't know anything about PC..

So here are some of my needs:

I’m a car designer so I will be using Photoshop and illustrator for rendering. I will also be using Alias 3D program.
I want everything to be super fast. Open apps fast, no lagging or slowing down while rendering.

Maximum speed, performance, quietness (soundless), high display resolution like Retina, reliable, bluetooth, and upgradeable in the future

I also want as good of a screen quality like Retina display.

I currently have a macbook retina with 2.4 Ghz intel Core i7. 16 GB 1600MHz DDR3 memory. Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB Graphics. I think it uses different graphic when running intense program.
The built desktop needs to be way better, faster than mac i have AND the highest spec available for iMAC

Could you be able to list out the things i would need to buy? I’m looking to spend around $1000 without monitor.

Thank you

What do you guys think about this build?

If your budget is $1000, then you'll have to consider a smaller SSD (120 or 240GB), a less expensive motherboard, a different CPU, etc. If you don't plan on overclocking, why not buy a Xeon E3-1271 V3 (or a less expensive i5 CPU depending on budget) and an H97 motherboard? You probably don't need a GTX 970, a quiet GTX 750Ti should meet your requirements. Because you want a quiet system, you should keep the Fractal Design R4 case. It isn't great for cooling; therefore you should use efficient components to keep the heat under control.

A $150 motherboard may have less features, but it isn't necessarily of lower quality. Options like SLI, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a second NIC, extra SATA ports that you don't need and other features make a motherboard more expensive. If you want the performance and features in the build that you suggested, then my only recommendation is to get a 240GB SSD (it should be enough) and watch for deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Spending more is worth it if the system fully meets your expectations.

Do you think z97 is too expensive for what it can provide?

since i can't really imagine how the list of parts would perform, would you say that the CPU and motherboard i listed could perform better than the highest spec of Imac? I think Imac can have up to like 3.2 GHz.. higher the number the faster it is?...lol

The fastest iMac (it's somewhat expensive) uses a 4GHz i7 CPU and a R9 M290X GPU which is slower than a GTX 970. A Z97 motherboard is a nice match for the CPU, but what features do you need/want? Dual LAN, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.? That will dictate what motherboard best meets your requirements and budget. A higher CPU frequency applies only to the same CPU family.

If you want a high definition display like Retina, then buy an iMac: http://www.extremetech.com/gaming/192305-analyzing-the-imac-5k-retina-display-how-do-you-squeeze-5k-out-of-a-last-gen-gpu

imac costs like 3K minimum..lol. I'll try to spend 1K and beat that performance. As far as the display, i'll get a good quality monitor later on.
I would need bluetooth, wifi, ethernet port? just in case sometimes wifi doesn't work. it'd be awesome if the computer is really quiet..
Can i still go with Z97?

my search shows that
ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard is better and less cost than
Asus Z97-DELUXE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard.
What do you think?

You don't really have another motherboard option because you want all features it offers. Try to get the parts on sale and up your budget if need be; even with a good monitor it will be significantly less expensive than an iMac. Building a system that meets your requirements for only $1,000 is extremely difficult.

They seem to be same motherboard but different brand. What do you think?

I agree the ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 is as good, but it doesn't include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. They can be bought separately (USB dongles or PCI-E controller), but then the cost difference between both motherboards isn't that great.

Edit: It all comes down to features that you need/want.

I finally ordered all my parts. Waiting for the parts to come.
I might be getting around $10 gift card from Newegg. Is there something i need to add to my list with $10? maybe like case fan? HDD fan? VAG cooling? memory&chipset cooling?
There's alot of good deals now.

What is your final build? The one in your second post? If you're not overclocking the CPU, then additional fans are not required. I presume you chose the Fractal Design Define R4 case to build a silent system and adding fans will increase the noise level. $10 is not enough to replace the stock cooler with a very quiet HSF.

My final build is the one with nzxt 410 and ballistix elite. The list i attached yesterday.
i do want a quiet system.
is there sometging i can buy with $10? Fans are on sale for under $10. Some cooling systems too.
just for look i guess..or perhaps cd driver?
Newegg has alot on sale

Or led stripes or fan grill?

Could you recommend one that will fit with all other components in my nzxt case?
edit: i found this for a good deal.
Antec 761345-75024-0 120mm Blue LED 3-Speed Case Cooling Fan.
what do you think? Perhaps the best place to install this is in the front of case.
