Hello ,so i was thinking about buying a new PC because i tried to stream fortnite using OBS Studio with a second monitor to react with the chat and stuff it was very laggy and unplayable for me (lower than 60FPS)

my pc specs:

Intel i5 7400 3.00GHz up to 3.30GHz
MSI AERO GTX 1060 3GB
Crucial 8GB DDR4 2133Mhz
120GB SSD + 1TB HDD
MSI H110-M VH Motherboard
350w PSU

i tried to stream on 720p and 1080p with a 3000 bitrate and i had the same resaults which means it is not an internet issue (my internet connection is 100 mb download and 6 mb upload i can't stream at higher than 3000 bitrate)

When i'm not streaming i get around 130FPS in fortnite and when i'm alone in a far area it goes up to +200FPS

i figured out that fortnite requiers a stronger CPU rather than a massive GPU even if i have OBS Studio running in the background (without streaming) i notice that there is a drop in my FPS (around 20 - 30)
even though when i record fortnite using nvidia shadowplay my FPS stay the same and sometimea i don't even notice that i'm recording.

i think the lag was because i was running fortnite + OBS Studio (streaming) + Chrome (twitch) + a second monitor.

finally i decided to buy these specs:

i5 8600k + nh-d15 cooler
GTX 1060 3GB (my current GPU)
16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 2666MHz
MSI Z370 GAMING PLUS
240GB SSD + 1TB HDD
600W PSU

I want to know if these specs are enough to play fortnite + streaming in 1080p 3000 bitrate without getting FPS drop or memory laggs and stuff and do i need to overclock the CPU or the stock speed is enough for this and Thanks!

Solution

Those claims about Ryzen are incorrect. Intel will give you higher FPS in single tasking a game without streaming...
If you intend to stream and game on the same system, you should look at the Ryzen 7's(doesn't matter if first or second generation). You should also choose a DDR4-3200MHz ram kit. What is the make and model of the PSU's? You're just generically slapping them in the post... :/

i know that Ryzen CPU's are better for multitasking and streaming ...etc but i've heared that intel CPU's are more stable and have more lifetime than the Ryzen CPU's even though the Ryzen's heat up faster this is why they are cheaper i think i' a little bit afraid to go for a Ryzen 🙁 and i don't know if i'm gonna get the same FPS as the 8600k while gaming ..

i have another questions about the RAM
which one is better for gaming and streaming
16 GB DDR4 2666MHz or 8GB 3200MHz i thought the 16GB is better because i'm gonna use a lot of GB on Fortnite + OBS Studio + Chrome

the PSU name is Thermaltake Berlin 630W

If you want to change your cpu+ motherboard and ram for pretty cheap you should buy either a Ryzen 5 2600 or 2600X with a okay motherboard like a b450 tomahawk and get 8-16 GB of DDR4 Ram ty and grtting 2400-3200MhZ because i heard that with higher ram speed ryzen works better and also if you’re scared that it get too hot buy an after market cooler for like 20$ and it should be fine if you dont overclock it also the ryzen’s cpu and great you will have a bit less fps than with an intel chip but its still an amazing cpu thats the best with multi taskig and its great with gaming

Those claims about Ryzen are incorrect. Intel will give you higher FPS in single tasking a game without streaming for ESports titles and some triple A titles up front. However as the system ages, multicore performance will be what gives the system overall better longevity. Newer triple A titles are optimized for 8 cores/16 threads and once performance demands increase, the 6 core/6 thread intel chip will start to underperform against processors that have better multicore performance. This is especially the case when you add additional performance requirements for streaming.
A great entry level setup would be a Ryzen system. You'll have the ability to update the bios and upgrade to better processors until 2020 for the AM4 platform.
This is a little over budget, but will be the best choice for you considering how much longevity you'll get out of this system. You'll be able to play triple A titles and stream for years on this system as opposed to any Intel system, with the only exception of the i9 9900k which is ridiculously priced.

Gaming isn't all about high FPS, it's about how much FPS will dip when performance demands call for hardware resources, which result in stutter. You'll have a more stable, smooth gaming experience streaming with this system.
