i am building my first decent computer, i am using an amd fx8350 coupled with an nvidia gtx 970, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/wdnkRB
can i have some recommendations please?
Also I haven't chose a motherboard yet as i have been told some need a bios update prior to working with the 8350 so can i have some clarification on that please?

Solution
The above is very right. ANY i5 would destroy ANY FX CPU in gaming. I would do something like this, which has the most bang for your buck:

- An i5 4460 would be better for gaming, unless that FX is not bad
- A CPU Cooler for your ears 😛
- A better PSU, 450W is totally enough (For i5 and GTX 970, for a max load on stress test of 350W)

You can drop the cooler if you don't care about stock cooler noise, and dedicate his budget for an SSD

I was just guessing with my PSU so thanks, i'd rather get the fx 8350 i just couldn't decide on a motherboard?

Solution

+1; i5s draw less power and are stronger per core.
