Building a pc, please provide suggestions, unsure of parts picked

Everything looks good except the power supply, switch it out for something like an EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold. The CX range from Corsair use cheaper parts compared to other Corsair power supplies

Usually a stronger cpu will be far more important than 16GB RAM.
This build has a better PSU and HD too.

Agreed, you should get an EVGA, here are two options:

More expensive but rated 80+ Gold: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438026&cm_re=EVGA_650_watt-_-17-438-026-_-Product

Less expensive, rated 80+ Bronze but will get the job done: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438014&cm_re=EVGA_600_watt-_-17-438-014-_-Product

The only other thing I would suggest is getting Windows 8.1, much faster boot and application load times and full utilization of your SSD.

-The Z97p-d3 is very cheap in the uk right now
- 8gb ram is enough
- changed the gtx 970 to one by galax, probably the best 970 on the market right now

- i5 +mobo instead of FX6300 for better cpu performance
- 8gb instead of 16gb, since mostly 8gb is more than enough for gaming/general use unless you are doing some heavy editing work. I assume you are building this rig for gaming because of the GTX 970.
- 7200 rpm harddrive instead of 5400 rpm
- better psu
- windows 8.1 instead of windows 7 for better performance

Yeah it was... all in all i would say you're recommended builds are solid. Question .. If you were to skimp on any part of your build LucoTF to save money which part would it be?

They are not intended for 24 x 7 usage in NAS units for sure. But i never had any problem with them as a consumer product.

Anyway OP should be fine with a Toshiba (Hitachi consumer drive) at same price range.

Cheaper mobo
128gb ssd
cheaper case (but still good, comes with 4 fans + a fan controller)
cheaper PSU (450w is plenty for this rig)
not changing the KFA2 gtx 970!
