So I am thinking of upgrading my system. I will probably upgrade my mobo to z170, cpu to i5 6600k, ddr4 ram... I also thought this would be a good moment to get a new case, first I was thinking of the Phanteks enthoo luxe. BUT then I saw a post of someone who built his Pc on some wooden planks and hanged that on a wall. I was also thinking of something similar, maybe just something more open. Would this be a bad idea? Advantages/disadvantages? Do you guys think this will be hard to do or fairly easy? What would you uge AS foundations...? What do you guys think.
My other specs:
Case: Bitfenix Shinobi bf4 edition
Gpu: Msi gtx 970
Cpu: amd fx 8350
Cooler: noctua nh-d14
16 gb ddr3 ram
Psu: bequiet 600w
Samsung 250 gb ssd, 2 terabyte hdd

Ps: it is for gaming

Solution
Ok then, I think I can help a bit:
It is fairly easy to get the right shape and things, there are plenty of scale represantions online with screw holes shown (rereading this, it sounds really dirty). If you are fairly handy, you will have no problems. The real trouble is the fact that cases are designed to PROTECT your hardware. In an open air design, you get better airflow, but you will have constant dust build up. Also, If you have kids or something and a rubber band, pencil, pillow or whatever hits the wall where you case is hanging, I doubt that will do much good for your awesome hardware (I am jealous, can you tell? :) ). Anyway, if you rigged something up, in theory it would be fine, assuming you used good materials, ecc... but...

Anyway, if you rigged something up, in theory it would be fine, assuming you used good materials, ecc... but the key thing would be somehow covering it with a transparent layer, maybe a sheet of plexi-glass, so you could still get the same affect, but without dust buildup being such a problem and making sure everything was safer.
To summarise:
Pros:
Looks awesome
Better cooling
Saves cash (will cost a few bucks in material and paint if you want, as well as screws and the like, as opposed to 100+ for a cool case)

Cons:
Dust
Protecting hardware (only a real problem if you sometimes have things flying around)
You have to be confident in your skills, if you measure something wrong, then it could fall apart or not fit right.

So, it's up to you. Personally, if you have the space and the time, I would do it. I plan to custom build a case as well, but next year and out of aluminium in stead of wood. It really isn't that hard, just print a few templates, maybe make a 3D model (I am using Google sketchup, it's free and decent, also has a massive storage of computer part models). Anyway, good luck.
