Question Building a PC - would putting newspaper over carpet prevent any potential static buildup?

Title. Not so many places in my house are non-carpeted so I'm weighing up my options. As I understand paper is an electrical insulator - so would standing on top of newspaper and building on a desk help prevent any static energy generated by standing on the carpet? Or would I be better off building it in a fully non-carpeted part of the house. I know the risk of electrostatic discharge is low, but I'd like to take precautions best I can.

Dont wear socks and avoid walking around a bunch and youll be fine.
Computer hardware is nowhere near as ESD sensitive as it used to be decades ago.
