I am building a new gaming PC. my first one...
It's a ryzen 5 3600
rx 5500 xt
asus tuf b450 gaming pro

i was a little concerned about installing the gpu, since ryzen cant display without a gpu and im not sure whether i would need to install any drivers first or anything like that

It's easy enough to do, most drivers can be downloaded from your motherboards support page,ie, chipset drivers/audio drivers etc. And for your GPU, you can download the graphics card drivers from AMD.

Windows has generic gpu drivers built in which will give you a display without the amd drivers being installed.

This will allow you to boot and install the drivers directly from amd.
