Question Building a power saving game server.

Hi all
Rig will be running 3 at one time requiring low fps. These uses will only require 18-35 fps on 3 os's simultaneously. I might play a racing game solo. fps(???).

I need 3 NVMe's(low storage(cheep)), and 1 sata drive for media playback.
Graphics setup(???) ,
PCIe 4 vs PCIe 5 ? For a mid level price cpu.. Witch will be more energy eficiant >_<

My leftover parts are; Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core 3.20 GHz and Nvidia ge forc GTX 960 8gb(can barley run the 3 instances, it hits 80-90+% usage), psu seasonic 850w.
My price range is 3k.

Any thought's ?

No idea what you are asking about.

Why would you have 2 or 3 GPUs running one monitor?

GPU partitioning isn't exactly supported on consumer cards, assuming you are talking about virtualization.

GPUs efficiency is basically down to the process node and architecture. Bigger cards consume more power, but they can do more.

3 NVMe drives is no big deal, plenty of motherboards that support that.

PCIe bandwidth doesn't really matter to a GPU. As long as you have PCIe x16 slot at at least 3.0, any late model graphics card will run fine. There are no PCIe 5.0 GPUs yet.

Ryzen 1600 doesn't have PCIe 4.0 or 5.0. Not really relevant, just thought you should know. No such thing as an 8GB GTX960, so not sure what that really is. Either way, if it isn't enough, then you need a faster GPU.

Do you want to run a remote-desktop server where each remote client receives its own disk/GPU/OS, or you want to make game server (eg Minecraft) where clients connect and play together?

2-3 gpu's would increase my gpu pool so I could partition them at whatever % to any vm I wanted. There are many headless(no plugs) gpu's. But this seams like it would take more energy vs a bigger card. Also I'm thinking about going with a Micro ATX. And seeing I cant find an AMD that supports 4 memory slots I'll be going with intel gen 11 !?

@Alabalcho I'm hoping to get it all on same rig. I don't want to be streaming. It is very similar setup.

Ops. I am using a geforce GTX 4GD5T OC. I'll have to do more research before I replace it so.. Thanxs for the heads up. Partitioning not virtuilzashion.
