Hi all, occasional poster, mostly lurker here!

I'm doing some research regarding building a mini-media center PC for my living room. I haven't kept up with PC technology the last few years and hopefully I can rack your brains regarding the hardware I can use.

I'm looking to put everything inside of a Retro Nintendo Entertainment System housing that no longer works, so I have some space constraints. The case is about 9"x7"x3" and I'm trying to make as few modifications to the case as possible for aesthetic purposes. This opens up some issues regarding the power source, but I know there are options out there with an external "brick" to save space.

I'd also like to use it for the occasional retro game night to emulate Gamecube games. This is not TOO GPU intensive, but it can be CPU intensive. Because of the nature of usage I think it makes more sense to go the dual-core route with a higher clock speed as opposed to the quad core route. This also means I need a decent GPU, and I don't know how onboard video measures up these days. I'm not entirely sure I'd be able to fit any expansion slots inside of the housing I'm using unless I'm using a very creative layout.

Any suggestions for a possible motherboard? I've been looking into Mini-ITX boards that look like they would fit, but I'm mostly hung up on GPU requirements as it's an entirely new world now compared to 6-7 years ago.

As well, if anyone has any advice on possible issues building a I might encounter building a compact PC I'd love to hear them, as I've never built one with form as a priority.

Thanks in advance!
