[SOLVED] Building an Enthusiast Gaming PC

Solution
  1. I'd look at a case with better airflow.
  2. Look for a SSD w/TLC controller and DRAM cache
  3. The 12900K is a hose job for a gaming build.
  4. I wouldn't trust that cooler for the 12900K when it kicks into turbo boost.
  5. 64GB for a gaming build is insane. 32GB is more than enough.
  6. Trim the fat (cost) and size up to an RTX 3080 Ti 12GB.
Here's a few changes to look at.

Intel Core i7-12700F $329.99...
Did you specifically look at Asus website to view the list of qualified memory for that board?

Others not on the list can work, but......why take the chance if you don't have to?

Are you indifferent to price? I'd wonder about 64 GB of RAM.

I guess that is a liquid cooler. Do you have prior experience with them?

The Inland Platinum will be your boot drive?

Do you intend to keep personal files on the boot drive?

What is the specific purpose of the 870 QVO?

  1. ASROCK website list same with an 8 GB RAM not the 16 GB version
  2. Yes, price is not a concern. I have saved and have been planning this build for quite some time waiting for best Processors.
  3. Its not a liquid cooler.
  4. Yes, it will be the boot drive and partitioned to keep the personal files.
  5. Large Downloads

I'd google for reviews of that cooler. It may or may not be adequate for that very strong CPU which likely would benefit from a very strong cooler.

Why 64 GB RAM rather than 128?

What is the purpose of the 18 GB Seagate?

Is gaming far and away the primary purpose of this PC?

Is there an over-riding reason you chose the Inland drive?

Make sure the Asrock board has proper ports for any future changes you may make.....M.2 ports, monitor connections, USB ports, etc. I'd certainly try to read reviews of it also.

  1. All 5 Star Reviews for that cooler. Or should I find a liquid cooler with 250W TDP ?
  2. 64 GB is enough for me.
  3. Data Storage. I am planning to put all 9 18 TB HDDs in the cabinet. I have a ton of data.
  4. Primary purpose is Gaming.
  5. I had chosen MUSHKIN first, but this was also a better option slightly cheaper ? Do you have any particular brand in mind ?

5 star reviews of the cooler on a 12900K? Possible I suppose. I have no specific knowledge of that cooler.

I wouldn't use liquid personally unless you have specific reason to believe any available air cooler is inadequate or have had prior favorable experience with liquid coolers. They add a layer of complexity and maintenance not found in air cooling.

Inland drive. You rarely see mention of them in the US. I'm just wondering if you don't have access to other brands like Crucial, Western Digital, Samsung.

I don't know your storage demands, but some would probably advise you to consider external storage for 9 drives rather than all internal. You may have a very unusual situation?

I changed the cooler as suggested.
I had a question about the RAM does the ram that I suggested have much higher CAS latency or it will work just fine ?
Also, the G Skill RAM is compatible with the ASROCK motherboard. Thats my only concern here.

The motherboard supports DDR and so does the Processor ?
What are your thoughts about the RAM that I selected ? How much different wil be the performance between Crucial and G Skill Rams suggested here ?

The G.Skill works.
