I am curious as to what my next system should be like and what all components, I can use and what I cannot use.

I definitely want the throughput of the PCI-e 3.0 SSD like the Intel P3600 SSD as the centerpiece of my system.

Questions: What motherboard? NVMe motherboard?
What processor can be used? Can I use a normal intel core i7? Or should it be a xeon?
I am sure DDR4 has to be used?

Please help me with your thought, and I am sure a lot of other people would be interested too.. :bounce:??

Dear Esco-Sid I am more or less ready to make my PC. And I want to make it extreme PC, (by today's standard) so that 3-4 years from now it becomes OK OK PC and I can still drag it on for 2 more years. My current system is 4 years old and I do heavy editing in PS, It is quite OK, but before it becomes worthless, I want to replace.

Would you pls elaborate why you think I am wrong in thinking that "making ssd centerpiece of your build that would be a very bad and expensive mistake."?

Ykki My budget is around 2.5k USD. my current system is a core i7 3770 , 8 GB RAM, 1 TB normal harddrive (those days SSD were costing a tonne). Intend to use my current monitor (which is a 27inch AOC IPS ) , the keyboard, mouse , the case, and SMPS. The rest I think I have to sell off / Junk. The current graphics card is a GT 560SE (if I remember correctly). For graphics card I think I will add on later, Right now I will just get the basics done.

I really feel like investing in the intel P3600 SSD

Man... a $900 ssd isn't worth it.

Solution
Dear Ykki, I see that you have suggested the samsung 840 Pro as boot disk, and 1 TB WD as the data disk.Total costing 525 USD already.

Storage: Samsung 840 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($299.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital BLACK SERIES 4TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($225.99 @ SuperBiiz)

I already have a 2 TB Data Drive and a 3 TB Ext Drive, so I dont think on that front I need to expand.

Also the speed of intel P3600 is way faster than the Samsung 840 Pro.

As I said before I would want to center my work station around the Intel P3600 SSD (or similar PCI-e 3.0 SSD) because I believe that is the future.
So any further suggestions ?

Here it is. You have to loose that 1440p monitor tho.

The Reason why I wanted to build a Desktop around Intel P3600 SSD was because I wanted the blistering speed of this SSD. But as most of you are saying it is a bit too expensive, I have an alternative which was launched just 1 month Back. It is the Intel SSD 750 Series, the 400 GB costs a lot less at 398 USD.

So now am I justified ?

I want to know which parts to pick up around this new SSD.. OR should I wait for Skylake?
