Building around 7400 or 8100?

Hello guys, I come here with a question that I sort of answered myself but really want to get some backup on my thoughts.

I'm planning to buy a new pc since I've been struggling with this fucking laptop shit for the last years.
Looking at prices and builds I still cant decide if I should go more for a i3 8100 or a i5 7400 The thing is here in my country (small and in south America) it would be almost the same price, just a 60 buck difference, being the 8100 the most expensive one.

I get that the main difference would be if i plan on updating it later or not, and I plan to do it around next april, so I think going for the 8100 is a good call but i'm worried I end up paying a little extra for less performance. Please give me some points of view about this

I'm building it with an evga 1060 6gb and 60hz monitor

I also wanted to ask, is there really a big difference between EVGA GTX 1060 6gb and the oc and sc ones? I mean i have never overclocked anything and i really dont plan to do it, so its worth paying 30-40 bucks more for a OC one?

Thanks in advance and have a good day.

Compare and decide ^

I went with the 8100 on my son's XMAS build.

A base like this:

I think I would buy the i3-8100. It has a passmark rating of 8141 and a single thread rating of 2090.
The single thread rating is usually the most important for games.
By comparison, the I5-7500 has a rating of 7415/1956. Not so different.

But, today, the only 8th gen motherboards have Z370 chipsets. That is not useful today since you will not be overclocking.
But, when it comes time to upgrade, you can pop in a K processor for a very good upgrade.

As to the graphics card, I think you get fair value from a factory overclocked card like the SC version.
Not so much from the maximum cards like the ftw.

If you have the budget for something, pay the price and go for the better unit.
The hurt of the extra price hurts for a little while.
The wondering if you made the right decision lasts much longer.
