Hi all, great forum. I have been reading for a few days now on here, a lot of great info. This is my first built and I wanted to go AMD route as it is cheaper then Intel. I wanted to stay under $600 shipped, thats what my wife allowed me, hahaha. I first had to find a case that I liked and this one is it.
Here is what I will be doing on it. Primarily downloading and browsing, nothing more. The only thing that I will be doing is 1080p HD CAM video editing and randering and I know I need goof video card and a lot of processing power, plsu I want something that will last for awhile. I might play with some overclocking if it is easy and not going to damage the rig and as I never done that before, I am not a gamer either. So here is what I cam up with:
Case:
Cooler Master Storm Scout ATX Mid-Tower Black Case
PSU:
Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply
I see a lot of people on here go with Crosair, but this one also got great reviews, so did the Cooler Master ones, so I am not sure. I just like the cables being shielded with black material, they look great that way.
Mobo:
ASUS M4A88TD-M USB3 AMD 880G Motherboard - Micro ATX, Socket AM3, 2000MHz DDR3 (O.C.), SATA 6.0 Gb/s, RAID, 8-CH Audio, Radeon HD 4250, Gigabit LAN, Hybrid CrossFireX Ready
This one is $99, has SATA 6g and not whole lot of reviews but looks like a great board, I see this one is being very popular:
SUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 AM3 AMD 880G HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard
CPU:
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition AM3
This looks like the best fit for the money!
Video card:
EVGA 01G-P3-N959-TR GeForce 9500 GT Video Card - 1GB DDR2, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Support, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, VGA Support
For $50 you can't beat it, will this be enough for me?
RAM:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL
these look cool and got great reviews, I think 8G would be enough right?
HD:
Western Digital WD1002FAEX 1TB Caviar Black Hard Drive - 1TB, 7200RPM, 64MB, SATA 6Gbs
this should be goo, right? Are Solid state drives best for Applications/C drive and then this one for storage or there are not much difference? I can get another one like this for storage? what do you think?
Media Drives:
I will reuse the DVDRW I have along with a DVD drive to complete the build. Please let me know what you guys think?
