Building Desktop PC for Photoshop/Maya

Hi guys, what components would enhance my ability (prevent lag) when working in graphic design programs such as photoshop and Maya? Would a graphics card be beneficial, or should my focus be on RAM and processor units?

Basically, I'm looking to build a computer for Photoshop, 3D Maya, and streaming/recording

They don't talk about memory in the article, but I would start with a 2x8 GB kit and upgrade if necessary.
