Building first gaming pc but no clue about audio please help!

So this pc im planning on just using headphones for games but people say to not plug in mobo jack because its bad and you should get a dac. Should I get a dac? why? any other things I could use like sound card?

I don't see anything wrong with using your case (or mobo) audio. Only audiophiles can really tell the difference between sound. And a better headset or such would make more difference.

On board audio in motherboards is very good these days. There is no use in getting a dac unless you have studio monitors or headphones and care a lot about audio. Soundcards are fairly unless these days, they are mainly bought if onboard audio dies (which yours wont don't worry). You should be fine audio wise no matter what motherboard you get.
