what is your budget for GPU now?

few words:
at 150-170$ i would recommed 650ti boost, 7850 2GBs for medium-high settings for every game and decent FPS ~60 avg at 1600x1024 res or a 1080p.

above that 7870 , R9 - 270x is a great deal (2GBs), above them R9 - 280x(3GB) uptill 300$
at same range GTX 760 is great aswell.
7970 above all with a 3GB of vram

uptill 400$ you can get GTX 770 at best deal!

going above this range
500$~ GTX 780 for 1080p ULTRA
and latest beast 780ti for 700$+

Unless you are planning on doing some major over locking, you don't need a formula z motherboard. Also, an intel 4670k will do much better at gaming than the cpu you listed. For the GPU, my gtx 660 oc can play everything currently out on ultra with an average framerate of 45 to 60 with the exception of a few select games which get those same results but with a mix of ultra and high settings. A gtx 760 would allow you to run everything on ultra now and will keep you running at that for a good while. But if your budget allows, you might think about running 2 660s in SLI or buy a single more expensive gtx 770. Really anything over a 770 will be overkill for a good while. You never need to get more than 60 fps.

The only reason people have been bashing AMDs R9 290 cards is because of two things; noise and heat.
Once those two problems are solved, well, the R9 290 series of cards will be saved.
The R9 290 is very futureproof, and it's 4k ready too. Once overclocked the R9 290 surpasses it's older brother - the R9 290x, and if the R9 290x is better than the Titan, then you have one hell of a GPU, there!

GTX 760 for 250$ totaly worth
and going above GTX 770 (2 or 4GB) at 1080p is a good future proof for now for around 400$s
2GB is around 320$ and 4GB 380$

though GTX 780 is a great performer but for extra 150$~ i.e. 500$ 3GB
also 770 and 780 would perform close with a difference of around 10-15fps in most games

so the card worth would be GTX 770
