well um it looks fine i suppose, but if this is really for gaming, is there a reason you did not choose an ahtlon 64 cpu/mobo? i mean a p4 would be good, but the amd chips are the better choice for gaming.

Pitch the CoolerMaster, the stock H/S is heavy-duty copper, lap it and you're good to 3.4 anyway. OCZ-PC-3500 may or may not work with that board well for O/C. Better yet, get a 2.8C and the 3.2 H/S and save some dough! You'll want at least PC-3700 with that order.

amd64 systems arent really good for overclocking, if he is wanting to do that he may prefer the intel chip. if he isnt and wants hardcore gaming, then go for the amd 64

Do you need the features on the I875P? If not buy the IS7. Gaming rig you want a better Psu. Antec 480 True Power Or Fortron 400 or maybe 530W Psu.

Eh, I was planning on overclocking, to a moderate ammount, and of course as stated it was for gaming also, which is why I choose the p4, and well, personal preference too. I don't know why a antec 450 psu won't do the job though...

well as far as overclocking the new nforce 3 250 boards seem to give alot of room for overclocking. if youll be doing alot of gaming, id seriously consider an ahton 64 set up.

If your going for a P4 I would get a 2.8C, will prob get a better overclock outta that and is cheaper.

Gaming computer I would highly recommend the Athlon64 3200+ with a Nforce3-250 mobo. With Athlon64 3200+, the 1mb cache, the slightest overclock increases performance drmatically.

I agree, and with the nForce3 250 out, it looks like a win-win situation for AMD, especially with 1MB of cache on the 3200+!

But if he really wants to stick with a P4, Hardwareboss makes some excellent points as well.

Well P4 seems to struggle against an AMD chip with a little more than half its frequency in 3d games. Except Quake3, which P4 struggles for the win. If games are the only thing he's into, then Athlon64's the way to go.
