So my girlfriend got some money from her birthday and wants a PC to play a few games and draw or maybe edit. With a budget around $400 I built her a PC for about $400 on PC part picker [ https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GyMRdX ] but im not sure if this is the best option. I picked this because of the price to performance and because the B450 mobos are future proof if she ever wants to upgrade. She wont be playing any hard core games but just things like stardew valley and things like that. She did say she wants to edit videos and draw using a tablet so i;m not sure if the CPU is good enough to render videos that well but I think this is the best build for the price. Anyone have any better ideas or suggestions? I did include windows for $5 since I know someone and I also am giving her a monitor, mouse, keyboard. and a 500gb HDD for free.

This should be better...

This is definitely better but she isn’t willing to deal with mail in rebates and I dont blame her no one wants to wait 20 weeks for $50 back. Also I never owned an AMD GPU because I heard of a lot issues with drivers and performance does anyone know if any of that is true or not.

That above build is darned decent for the price.

In regards to editing. I am sure the system is capable if you have the time.

If you have a Micro Center nearby, sub in the R5 1600 since those specs have a dedicated GPU. On sale for sub $80 right now.

Sort of a dumb question but isn’t the new ryzen series coming out soon would it be better to wait and maybe the prices will go lower?

It's worth pointing out that there are a couple other RX 570s available for just $10 more, no rebate required...

If you were looking to save a bit more money to put toward a dedicated graphics card, you could swap the 2200G for a 1200, and overclock that to 2200G-level performance (or a bit better). A Ryzen 1200 doesn't have integrated graphics, and has a bit lower stock clocks, but can be had for about $25 less than a 2200G at Amazon right now...

It will probably be a couple months before the Ryzen 3000-series CPUs start coming out. And it's not really known whether models with integrated graphics will be coming right away, or at a later date, which seems likely.

The Ryzen 3 1200 tends to overclock further since the CPU isn't sharing dies space with graphics. The ryzen 3 1200 also has more cache than the 2200g

What about the 200GE as a placeholder for 3rd gen? At 3.7-3.8ghz+ it's a great CPU for the price and for gaming would pair well with the RX 570 4gb. The only downside is that being a 2C/4T CPU video editing may take some time.

When there's extra cash get a good quality 240gb+ SSD.
