Hello,

Undecided on the MB - should I go with the ASUS P8P67 Deluxe B3 Intel P67 Motherboard or ASUS P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 Intel Z68 Motherboard? Also, does Cooler Master Silent ATX Modular Power Supply work with either of these boards? Please go easy on me - new on building and a female :)

There are 3 major differences between the P67 and the Z68.

Intel SRT (Smart Response Technology) lets you to use a small SSD (<50GB) to work as a caching drive to speed up the boot, start up of apps and access times.

IGP Support (Integrated Graphics on Processor) the Z68 boards have build in support for the IGP. The main advantages of this is that it will allow you to use the IGP for things like backup graphics and help with trouble shooting issues. Also with the Lucid Logix Virtu software you switch between the IGP and the dedicated video card for the best performance for the application that you are running.

Intel SATA III controller is better performing then the old Marvell controller that is used on the P67 boards.

Z68 is also great overclocker!

Z68 is going to be Ivybridge compatible. H67 and P67. H61 is not.

Thanks Nikorr, and here are my components I'm considering and have:

Motherboard:
http://www.asus.com/websites/global/products/Lal9C5bJV9ftCc7k/P_500.jpg
Case: Corsair Obsidian 650D (Blk) Mid-Tower - buying
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k (unlock) - have
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate - have
Power Supply: Cooler master silent pro gold 800w - Not sure if compatible to MB?
Memory: 8GB GSkill RipJaws X Series - buying
SSD: 120GB OCZ Vertex Turbo - have
HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200.1.2 - have
HDD: (May get another one?)
Optical Drive: Samsung Blu-Ray Combo Internal 12xbluray ROM/DVDRW DL & Ram Lightscribe SATA II - have
Graphic Card: Zotac NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT AMP! Edition (later will buy a newer card when prices go down) - have
CPU Cooler: Corsair CWCH80 or 100 Liquid cooler - buying (?)

Am I missing anything, do let me know - I've been on this site; and others; googling items;and watching youtube on "how to build PC" and "unboxing items." I'm all excited to start building. My present PC it's doing its best but it needs a rest. Everything I have bought so far is under $700.00 (shopped around even on ebay) and will do approximately $530.00 for the rest of items.

So tell me what you think and what needs changing for me to have a "high performance" PC that will do everything and last long (up-gradable).

I recommend CORSAIR Vengeance 99% of the time, quality RAM and low profile with XMP profile.

I was going to go with the 16GB Corsair Vengeance (CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9B), But the CAS on those were 9 and I was aiming for lower number say 8; thus the GSkill RipJaws X SERIES with 8GB (CL8D8GBXM) is 8 CAS.

And I after doing my post I saw that you stated the PSU was compatible to the MB which is great since I liked the reviews.
Planning on building my PC either late next week, or the week after (2wks). My PC is my everything - it does my games; stores my ebooks (ALOT); it's my entertainment when I want to relax.... laterally, you get the picture. And I already have the i7-2600k (anything that as "have" beside the listing means I already bought it.
Thanks again for helping, earlier on I chat with a rep. from TigerDirect about the MB and PSU and he wasn't able to tell me the answer, he referred me to the same page I was on - just wanted to know if 20+4 pin was compatible to the MB which states had 24 pin (LOL). I'll be signed on here from now on instead of just reading the forums.
I'll see how everything goes than I'll decide if I need a new monitor to go with my new rig.

They are great, I have them too.

And the 2600K is the best for the price u can buy at that performance level.

U can easily OC to 4.5GHz and have a speed daemon : ))

Got to get some rest - only have few hours before I'm off to work; I'll be back on much later in the day/more like tomorrow morning (gosh! how I wish I didn't commute)...I'm thanking everyone that will be giving their suggestions and input from now..THANKS

I'm finally going to build my pc next week while on vacation (sigh). Due to budget and information given I changed few of my items. This are my specs for building my high performance pc. Would like you "guys" opinions.

That's it forgot to get the Thermal compound for the CPU in case it is needed but called Radio Shack and was told that they had it in stock, so I'll get this on Monday.
I don't like the SSD and HDD chocies, but I got them at a great deal, I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
So, please give my your opinions - on specs and do you think I'll be fine building my PC next week? I plan to build it outside the case first to make sure nothing is wrong with any items.

HELP!!!!

I think I ordered the wrong memory for my motherboard

Can a Quad Channel Kit be used instead of a Dual Channel Kit in Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3? The MB states Channel supported: Dual Channel

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hello, I will be building my PC tomorrow, so I purchased an anti-static mat which comes with anti-static wrist straps. The question is where is the best place to attached the "gator mouth" to? I read that I can attach it to the PC's case that I'm working on, or I can take off the "gator mouth" and insert the pole into the round part of the socket (on the wall). Is this correct? And if it is - which one should I do. The majority of the house is carpeted so I would like the best ways to build my PC without doing any harm.

Hello Ragavang43, what were you looking for that you found it on my thread? Do let me know - are you a 1st time PC builder like myself? Or was my specs helpful to you? :hello:

I DID IT!!! I typing now on my "new pc" which I completed installing late last night. Starting it yesterday afternoon :)
The only issues I had were the wiring and the time when I had to update the drivers; I had place them on a USB flash drive; however, after installing them, my system was telling my disk not seen and my "Boot Device Light" kept on coming on.
But I'm so happy...
