This is my first build in nearly 10 years and I want to make sure that I am not missing something and that I am getting the most out of my money.

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2YCJW4

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 4.5 GHz 8-Core Processor ($339.00 @ Newegg)
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler ($89.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: ASRock X670E Steel Legend ATX AM5 Motherboard ($329.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory ($169.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Crucial P5 Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($149.99 @ Best Buy)
Video Card: Zotac GAMING AMP Extreme AIRO GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB Video Card ($1399.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Fractal Design Torrent ATX Mid Tower Case ($189.99 @ B&H)
Power Supply: SeaSonic VERTEX GX-1000 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Monitor: Alienware AW3423DWF 34.2" 3440 x 1440 165 Hz Curved Monitor ($1099.99 @ Dell Technologies)

I will be using the system mostly for gaming and a bit of content consumption. My reasoning for the AM5 platform is to possibly do a CPU upgrade down the line when they sunset support for the MOBO I buy.

I am also not married to the GPU. I want to wait a bit to see if prices go down, and I also don't have a problem with AMD Radeon.

Mostly looking for advice on places where I am either overspending for my needs, or just confirmation on what I am getting. I am planning on this build lasting at least another 8-10 years with only upgrading things like CPU, GPU, and adding some RAM/Storage.

All Looks good but I couldn't recommend the 4080 at current prices it would need to drop at leas $200 for me to consider it over the 7900XTX. AM5 is so expensive but if you are hoping for a 8yr + lifespan then it could make sense especially if you can get a Ryzen 8000 or 9000 cheap in 4 or 5 years time to keep it going as a reasonable quick machine/

I agree on the price of the GPU. My current plan is to build everything else and wait for the prices to come down a bit, either at or below $1,000. I have a GTX 1070 founders that will work for now.

With all the 3080 and 3090 priced just under the 4080, not seeing price drops happening anytime soon. 4070Ti might be DOA as well with all the high end 30 series cards just sitting there.

7900XTX lacks some features the 4080 has, mostly ray-tracing performance, which should keep it priced above AMD's flagship. If they launch an 7950XTX or something that can outperform it, and they re-price their entire stack, maybe.

In 3 years, any cpu will be obsolete, and will require a new motherboard to upgrade.
10 years is a very long time in the computer world.

Still, it is worth building a dream pc if you have the funds.
On the cpu side, the $349 ryzen 5-7700X is, indeed a very strong processor.
It has 16 threads and a passmark rating of 36513 and a single thread rating of 4279.
The single thread rating is most important for games:

But, the $289 Intel I5-13600K has 20 threads and a similar passmark rating of 39974/4208

Here is a comparison review:

If you want the very best look at the$ 574 I9-13900Kf

Passmark 32 threads 59560/4685.
