After spending quite some time researching hardware and saving up money, I've finally come to the point where I'm actually going to build my pc. I will be using this pc for gaming only and I'll be playing a broad genre of games including GTA5, No Mans Sky, Modded Skyrim, Insurgency, BF1, Metro redux, Fallout, Assassin's Creed and many others titles.

The parts I'm planning on using: (prices including vat)
-cpu: i5 6600k
(€257,90/$283)
-cpu cooler: CM Hyper 212X
(€29,10/$32)
Where I live, the 212X is cheaper than the 212 evo so I figured I should just get the 212X. Many people seem to suggest the Cryorig H7 but I can't find it for a reasonable price.
-Motherboard: Msi Z170A Gaming m3
(€141,90/$156)
-Ram: G-Skill Ripjaws V ddr4 2800 mhz 16Gb (2×8Gb)
(€84/$92)
- Gpu: any decent gtx 1060
(around €350/$385)
At first I wanted to get a gtx 1070 but I can't seem to find them for any less than €550.
- Storage: Samsung 850 evo 500Gb
(€151,90/$167)
Since I'm using this pc for gaming only, I don't any need mass storage and 500 gb should be just fine.
- PSU: Corsair RM550x
(€99/$109)
-Case: NZXT s340 red/black
(€69,90/$77)
-Extra case fan: Corsair AF140 Quiet
(€24,70/$27)
The s340 only comes with two exhaust fans and no intake fans. I'm planning on moving the two 120mm stock fans to the front to act as intake fans. Next, I'll install the 140mm fan to the top bracket to act as an exhaust fan. This fan-setup should create a possitive air pressure to minimize dust building up inside of the case. (Will this setup work as intended and will I be able to move the stock fans to the front?)
-Keyboard + Mouse: CM Storm Octane Black
(€38,80/$43)
Im trying to save some money on this part and I'll probably get a proper mouse/keyboard in the future
-Monitor: BenQ RL2455HM
(€179/$197)
This seems to be a good budget 1080p screen

Total: €1426/$1567

I appreciate all suggestions on how to improve this build. Also, are all of these parts compatible with each other? Many thanks in advance 😀

Your build is very good, but overclocking is a very expensive way of getting slightly more performance.
My suggestions
6600
stock cooler
h170 gamer motherboard
2400 mhz ram
cheaper case. 2 case fans is plenty - either 2 exhaust or 2 intake is best.

With all the money you saved, get a much better monitor. I have a 27" 1440p IPS, and it is glorious. why get a nice PC, then ruin it with a cheap display?

How many watts do you think a build like this will require? I will be slightly overclocking the i5 6600k (perhaps to 4.3/4.4 Ghz) but I won't be adding another gpu.

If possible, you might be able to suggest me another psu?

ps. Thx for the quick response!

550W is plenty
Your power supply is a good choice.
Other equally good options are EVGA supernova or Seasonic.

2400mhz ram doesn't work at 2400mhz on an H170 board. Everything other than Z170 is limited to 2133 mhz.

That PSU is a good choice, no need to replace it. More than enough wattage including overclocking.

reputable cards like the msi gtx 1060 gaming X are all over €350, some leaning more towards the €400 mark. The only cards I can find for less than €350 are either low profile or have a blower style cooler and even these cards are well above the €300 mark.

Rx 480 8gb gpus are all around €300 and gtx 1070's range between €480 and €550.

Which gpu makes most sense in a build like this?

A GTX 960 is enough to enjoy almost any game available now on a 1080p screen
RX480 or GTX 970 are even better... Probably overkill for a 1080p screen, but a very good idea for a 1440p screen.
GTX1060 - don't know price or performance yet.
GTX1070 - what do you need it for????

And about the better screen:
(I cant seem to answer directly to any questions/suggestions on mobile so sry for that)

I've already fallen in love with this case and I would like to keep the overclocking option available to make my setup a bit more future proof so I'd rather not change that. I might be able to spend a bit more money though.

Are there any 1440p IPS screens you recommend and will a gtx 1060 suffice [strike] or should I also upgrade to a gtx 1070? [/strike]

RX 480 and GTX 1060 are the perfect 1080p cards. 1440p is kind of pushing it with both. It works, but you aren't going to hit the magic 60fps number in all games, heck it may even be a stretch.

I would go GTX 1070 if I was serious about 1440p gaming.

I might just get a gtx 1070 and a 1440p IPS monitor. Would something like a Benq BL2420PT, an Acer G7 G247HYU or an AOC Q2577PWQ be worth it? Are there any other good gaming monitors for around €300/$300 you guys could recommend? Thx in advance :)

No problem. thanks for quick reply.
