How does this build look so far? Feel free to make suggestions, also if anyone could recommend a case and power supply that'd be great.

You didnt include a operating system. if he needs one it will but him 150 over budget

Those are all good builds I akso stumbled upon a good motherboard with tons of features . It is called the asrock fatal1ty z87 killer

Also windows 8.1 will give you slightly better performance in games over win 7. If you are a student you can get 8.1 pro for $70

overclocking is useless trust me
yup well buying / downloading windows 7 somewhere else than microsoft's website is illegal just so you know
it is called piracy and i bet you are one as you recommend him he downloads an ILLEGAL version of windows 7
