I really think it's a little over my budget (1000$) but since I am a film major I guess it would be worth the investment? Please let me know if I can cut down on anything to reduce the price! (like is i7 4770k worth the money)


I will be using Adobe premiere pro cs6 as well as light room/ Photoshop, and after effects occasionally.

I mostly play Dota2 and I'd like to run it at full settings, as well as games like Diablo and Borderland 2.

Good looking rig, would suggest changing the DRAM, Haswell scales very well to fast DRAM so for an extra $5, take a look at the GSkill Snipers 2x8GB 2400/11 for $155, you'll have much faster DRAM and much greater Bandwidth, which is great in Vid/imaging work , and might pick up a couple frames in gaming

Alright, thanks! Also, do they sell the low profile ones? Because I'm not sure if the fan will clear the RAM heat sinks?

I'm going to be using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

Also, is the 1.65V going to be okay with the i7 4770k? I've heard people say it's better to use 1.5V max.

First question on the Hyper 212 EVO - no worries with any DRAM - the fan height is adjustable and no ill effect on cooling - I've got Tridents in my IB with an EVO over them and RJ X in my SB with and EVO.

Yes 1.65 is fine with high freq DRAM - 1.5 is the suggest ed voltage for stock DRAM and CPU at stock (i.e. running 1333, 1600 or even 1866 sticks), 1.65 is the norm for 2133 and above and it is expected you've OCed the CPU some which will also raise the MC voltage - I myself like to keep the DRAM and MC voltage within 0.60 of each other
